Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Ridata DVD+R media is known for excellent performance and stable, reliable data writing. This spindle features 100 DVD+R write-once discs that are compatible with 4x speed recordings. Designed for personal or professional use, Ridata's DVD+R discs utilize a high-performance phase change material which is ideal for mass storage and long archival life. Each disc holds up to 4.7 GB of data--which can store up to 120 minutes of high-quality video, or your collection of high-resolution photos or digital audio files.

What is DVD+R/RW?
DVD+R/RW is an erasable format based on CD-RW technology that became available in late 2001. It is supported by Philips, Sony, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Ricoh, Yamaha, and others, though it is not supported by the DVD Forum. DVD+RW drives read DVD-ROMs and CDs, and usually read DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs, but do not read or write DVD-RAM discs. DVD+RW drives also write CD-Rs and CD-RWs. The DVD+RW format uses phase-change media with a high-frequency wobbled groove that allows it to eliminate linking sectors. This, plus the option of no defect management, allows DVD+RW discs to be written in a way that is compatible with many existing DVD readers. DVD+R/RW discs hold 4.7 gigabytes (GB) per side and are readable in many existing DVD-Video players and DVD-ROM drives.

4.0 out of 5 stars Poor shipment packaging, January 20, 2005
This review is from: Ridata DVD+R 4x 100-pack Spindle (Electronics)
These are, in fact, RICOHJPN-R01-02 discs, which IMHO are some of the best and most reliable +R media made.

BUT whoever it is that specified the shipment packaging needs to be FIRED.
One cannot throw a cake-box of ever-so-fragile DVD write media in such a large box for over-the-road shipment without proper packing materials and not expect vibration damage.
This is great media with BAD shipping practices, so the only question is how many will be ruined en-route.
One would think that they would look at these reviews, as this has been going on for a long time, and get their heads out of their butts and fix the shipping problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ridata DVD+R 4X 100 Pack, September 7, 2004

This review is from: Ridata DVD+R 4x 100-pack Spindle (Electronics)
These discs are simply superb! My DVD writer is an HP300n and it is pretty picky about certain discs I record on it. I had coasters with so many other name brand discs and losing so much money that I almost stop recording period; that is until I purchased a 25 pack of these Ritek "branded" discs (to be fair, I believe most of the problems were with the writer itself and not the discs). Well with this brand I have not had one coaster/flipper and they record and play "beautifully" in my Panasonic DVD player. This was approx 10 months and two spindles ago when the price was very high. I am now on my 2nd 100-count spindle, and I still haven't had one (1) coaster! The prices on these discs have dropped tremendously, and at $43.48 this is one of the best deals on the web. Thank you Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars These are RICOHJPNR01., September 29, 2004
This review is from: Ridata DVD+R 4x 100-pack Spindle (Electronics)
I have read reports of some batches of RiData DVD+R turning out to be Ritek G03's (meaning that they are limited to speeds of 2X). I got RICOHJPNR01, which are superb discs and as good as Ritek G04's (you can check your discs by using Nero's CD-DVD speed tool). If you are writing these discs at 2X speed, be sure that you check your dvd writer's manufacturer for the latest firmware because that is the #1 reason that people have problems with burning dvds.

The disc's themselves have a matte label coating so you can safely write on them (unlike shiny discs that don't have any sort of label coating) without worry.
