Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Ridata DVD+R media is known for excellent performance and stable, reliable data writing. This spindle features 50 DVD+R write-once discs that are compatible with 4x speed recordings. Designed for personal or professional use, Ridata's DVD+R discs utilize a high-performance phase change material which is ideal for mass storage and long archival life. Each disc holds up to 4.7 GB of data--which can store up to 120 minutes of high-quality video, or your collection of high-resolution photos or digital audio files.

What is DVD+R/RW?
DVD+R/RW is an erasable format based on CD-RW technology that became available in late 2001. It is supported by Philips, Sony, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Ricoh, Yamaha, and others, though it is not supported by the DVD Forum. DVD+RW drives read DVD-ROMs and CDs, and usually read DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs, but do not read or write DVD-RAM discs. DVD+RW drives also write CD-Rs and CD-RWs. The DVD+RW format uses phase-change media with a high-frequency wobbled groove that allows it to eliminate linking sectors. This, plus the option of no defect management, allows DVD+RW discs to be written in a way that is compatible with many existing DVD readers. DVD+R/RW discs hold 4.7 gigabytes (GB) per side and are readable in many existing DVD-Video players and DVD-ROM drives.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT the same media as 25 pack or 100 pack!, December 19, 2004

I just received a 50 pack of the 4x Ridata +R media and checked the description in DVDINFOPRO. As "Crappiest Media Made" noted, these are not the RICOHJPN but instead RITEK-R03. I have had 2 coasters out of the first 25 disks. Not acceptable considering I had a 100% success rate with the 'older' RICOHJPN. I have to assume that in fact these are reject 8x media. Who can you trust anymore?

5.0 out of 5 stars Ritek is the best, August 24, 2004

I've have bought 600 DVD+R media in amazon.com website, the first media I started burning was Memorex, but when amazon.com decided to sell Ridata, I bought 1 Spindle of 50 discs, all of them have work great so far, so I inmmediately decided to buy only Ridata because of the Recognizable Brand, Quality and Reliability of Ritek Company, I am using 1 Memorex Dual +-RW 4X and a HP DVD Writer + at 4X too, Ritek is obviously much better (the best to be more precise) than HP, Memorex, Ricoh, etc

5.0 out of 5 stars How to get good media..., February 17, 2005

Dunno about the RiData's sold here on Amazon, but a certain major online retailer with name beginning with "N" and last letters "gg" sells this exact same media (RiData "always right" DVD+R 4x 50-pack), and the last two 50-packs I've gotten were both RICOHJPNR01 media. My advice would be to go with this other well-known retailer, as apparently your chances of getting the grade-A media are much better. Anyway, I give this media 5 stars, but be warned that with branded media like RiData (or Memorex, or Sony, etc) it will always vary as to who makes the discs -- this is a perfectly normal practice and there's no grounds to complain since this has been going on a long time with both CD and DVD recordable media. If you want guaranteed quality, I'd go with an OEM name like Taiyo Yuden.
