Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Ridata DVD-R media is known for excellent performance and stable, reliable data writing. This spindle features 25 DVD-R write-once discs that are compatible with 4x speed recordings. Designed for personal or professional use, Ridata's DVD-R discs are made with high-quality organic dye recording layer materials, offer excellent compatibility with a wide range of players and burners, and support the CPRM (Content Protection for Recordable Media) copy protection system. Each disc holds up to 4.7 GB of data--which can store up to 120 minutes of high-quality video, or your collection of high-resolution photos or digital audio files.

What is DVD-R/RW?
DVD-R (which is pronounced "dash R" not "minus R") uses organic dye technology, like CD-R, and is compatible with most DVD drives and players. DVD-RW (formerly DVD-R/W and also briefly known as DVD-ER) is a phase-change erasable format. Developed by Pioneer based on DVD-R, using similar track pitch, mark length, and rotation control, DVD-RW is playable in many DVD drives and players. Capacity is 4.7 billion bytes. DVD-RW discs can be rewritten about 1,000 times. Many companies now produce DVD-RW drives, all of which write CD-R/RW. Most DVD-RAM drives also write DVD-R discs, while some also write DVD-RW discs. Some newer drives write both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW formats.

5.0 out of 5 stars G04's are some of the best media, May 24, 2004

This review is from: Ridata DVD-R 4x 25-pack Spindle (Electronics)
I've burned about 100 of these without one error, either in the write process on my NEC-1300A, nor in playback on my computer or in my cheapo Toshiba dvd player. I use fast forward and rewind a lot, as I'm an impatient movie watcher, so these have been put through some hard work.

I had some problems with Memorex media, but then I read the reviews on videohelp.com. Hundreds of customer reviews are listed there, and you can match your exact burner to exact media for reviews of success and conpatibility. Ritek (or Ridata) G04's like these routinely get the highest ratings. They are in a class above any blank media you are likely to buy off a shelf in an electonics superstore.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can't beat Ritek's Ridata DVD's !!!, June 24, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Ridata DVD-R 4x 25-pack Spindle (Electronics)
I've used hundreds of these discs. In my opinion (and you'll find plenty others who agree with me), there are no better DVD's out there. And when you factor in the low cost of these discs, they become an even better deal.

I use a Lite-On 4x burner and copy (mostly) with Nero. As far as I know, I've never had a coaster. I did have one bad copy, but I don't think it was the disc's fault. I often record all the way to the edge of the DVD (using all available space) - and I've never had any quality issues with using the full space available.

These also seem to play on a LOT of DVD players. However, as many people know, some Sony DVD players are fickle, especially if you attach a lable to the DVD (this goes for any brand of blank DVD media). My advice: stay away from Sony DVD players, and stock up on Ritek's DVD's. I have a Yamaha, a 5-disc Phillips, and some $30 no-name brand from Circuit City. All three players play these discs perfectly.

And if you're still skeptical, just but a pack of 25 and give them a try. You won't use anything else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works FLAWLESSLY with Apple G5 dual 2.0 Rev B, October 12, 2004

I've gone through 125 of these DVD-Rs by Ridata, and so far the burn success rate has been 100%. Not only did the burned discs play in my Apple computer, it also worked on two other DVD players (a Sony 5 disc DVD player and a Toshiba SD1200). I burned my discs using Apple's iDVD software which came bundled with the computer; While burning, I even used the computer to surf the web, and noticed the DVDs were burned perfectly without any problems <although that's probably a testament to the awesome G5 rather than the Ridatas =)>. I'd highly recommend them! (I just placed an order for another 50!)
