Some reviews posted here are from people who did not purchase this item from Amazon. The product lot number is totally different than the current stock of Amazon. The product lot that Amazon was/(is?) selling had/(has?) a large number of defective discs. People who bought their discs retail, and gave a review of good quality, isn't a good indicator of the discs you will get. Based upon the people who purchased their discs from Amazon and gave reviews, it seemed/(seems?) likely you will get a defective spindle. This may not be the case anymore.

I purchased a spindle in May 2004, and it contained about 70% defective DVDs. I returned it to Amazon in July as a defective product. They took the product back, even though it was past 30 days, and they paid for return shipping. (You won't get that great customer service at a retail store).

Amazon told me there would be a slight delay on my replacement discs because they were changing their supplier. I received my replacement discs about 10 days later. After inspecting the discs, I found no visible physical defects. I've burned about 10 discs and have had no failures. It would appear that the new supplier has corrected the defective product problems.

In conclusion, I would recommend this product from Amazon.

I've burned these on an NEC ND-1100A at 2x and on an NEC ND-3500A at 4x and all 25 in my package have worked flawlessly. The price isn't all that much more than quality +R discs, so I'm back for more! For reference, the discs I bought at the end of October have the media code RICOHJPN-W11.

This is the best media I've used. And I use blank DVD quite and bit. Not one failed on me and it plays back on my DVD player without a problem. A definate 5 stars.

I just burned my 70th Ridata DVD+RW disk last night. More than half of them on my Akai DVD burner I also bought from Amazon. Not 1 bad disk yet. They play on most modern DVD players. Great price for a RW, & if you get tired of what's on them, you can record right over them.

I'm ordering another 25-pack today.

Update: 3/1/05 - Just bought another 25-pack of these last month. My AKAI stand-alone burner & my Plextor burner on my computer would not record or even recognize ANY of them... not 1 usable disc! Quality downgrade or a bad batch? Other brands are working fine in the machines.

These were shipped on October 11th from Sparks, Nevada and they are the RICOHJPN-W11-001 media that work well in the NEC 2500A burner (and many others) - the same media found in most packages of Memorex 4x DVD+RW - but the price is much better in this 25 pack (although you don't get jewel boxes, but then you can buy the slim jewel boxes that take up less space).

I mention the shipping location, because if you are on the East Coast, Amazon probably ships from a warehouse closer to you that may have different stock and thus these might be a different media.

At these prices, I can use these to burn anything that I might want to erase later after viewing (and use the now only slightly cheaper DVD-Rs for things that I know I want to keep permanently).

Currently using a Sony DRU-700A DVD burner, and after attempting to use other brand names, memorex, etc. I became very frustrated and soon realized NOT all blank DVD discs are made the same. Then a few months ago, I gave Ridata a shot to see what happened and I was pleasantly surprised to learn these discs are consistantly 'error free' I've come to the conclusion that using Ridata by Ritek is the ONLY WAY TO GO!

This media burns very well on Liteon drives. Some of you will know what this means; Kprobe scans are in the teens for PI and below 3 for PIF. Those kind of results are remarkable for RW discs. At what amounts to 70 cents each these are fantastic. Buy fast before Amazon raises the price.

The media code is RICOHJPNW11, the same as Memorex branded disks. Visual inspection shows no obvious defects and I've burned several with Nero on an NEC 2500A at 4x with no verification errors. At this price, they are not much more than quality 4x DVD+R's. I've ordered two more spindles.

I've been using these disks with my philips dvdr and everything has worked wonderfuly! I haven't had one disk fail on me yet and I just ordered two more packages.

Not all burners work well with all media.

These discs burn with very high quality on my Cyberdrive, and good quality on my NEC 1300A.

Even though they are rewritable, they burn with higher quality than the average write-once media I've bought. (Although that includes CMC, which most consider to be poor media.)

Both packs from Amazon, one bought early-mid 2004, and one bought late September 2004, are RICOHJPN-W11-001.
