High Quality,
By Kayatika (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ridata/Ritek 4.7GB 16x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I was skeptical of these after reading the lackluster reviews, but they work great for me and the price is an outstanding value.
I measure the quality of blank DVD's not by how many 'coasters' I get (which I've never had a problem with from any brand of blank DVD's), but from how well they hold up over time. A lot of the budget DVD's get scratches easily and don't last very long even with careful handling, but these DVD's seem to be of much better quality than most, especially better than the Memorex budget DVD-R's (ASIN: B0009MX5R4) that amazon is currently selling at a higher price than these.

For those of you experiencing problems with these discs...,
This review is from: Ridata/Ritek 4.7GB 16x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I own an older NEC 2510A DVD-RW drive. It took a firmware update to get the drive to recognize these discs. Check your drive manufacturer's web site for updates. Good luck!

Good quality, decent price,

I have been using Ridata for a long while, and haven't had any problem. The quality is so reliable and the prices are always inexpensive. I bought DVD-R 16x on Black Friday, and it was really a good deal. They all burned at full speed on my NEC 3550A without a single coaster!!! I like it!

They are consistently rejected as unreliable. (The DVD burner actually advises me to discard the disc after trying to verify. How explicit is that?)

I wasn't sure how to rate this, so I just wanted to leave a review and make it know that it is not compatible with the sony dru800a. 8x Ritek does fine, but these are not at al compatible. if you dont know whether they are with yours, please research it first, or every disc will be a coaster. Tried it at 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, and 16x.

Not very reliable media,

My Liton 16x drive does not like this brand of media. I get coasters at least 50% of the time no matter what speed. From other posts I have seen, this media does not work well in some drives. Unless you know it works in your DVD burner, I would not recommend buying Ridata/Ritek media.

GOOD PRICE, SLOW SPEED,

The actual product is very good for a low price. The problem is speed. It claims 16x speed, but these disks will only burn at 4x speed. I have used other brands that have burned at the full 16x speed. I guess it depends on your burner, but buyer beware, you may be waiting a while for your burn.

I have used these discs on 4 types of burners lite-on 16x won't even start. Sony 16x work but only up to 12x then they slow down to 6x and stay there. Pioneer 4x work fine. Pioneer 12x have to try mutiple times to get the burn started and then they only burn at 8x. These are not the ritek DVD-R discs I used in the past. I have had much better results with sony 16x.

cheap media with quality you can't complain,
This review is from: Ridata/Ritek 4.7GB 16x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I have been using RiTEK for as long as I can remember. Their media has always been dependable and AFFORDABLE. RiTEK been a long time favorite of mine when it comes to price and quality. I especially enjoy how compatible their dvd's are with so many of the different brands of dvd players out there. I myself have a really old dvd player and was kind of paranoid whether it would work or not, but in the end it worked out perfectly. I have had my movies backed up digitally for months now without any sort of problems. I had problems in the beginning, but after contacting their very helpful tech support, I realized it was just some firmware issues. Well hope this was helpful to y'all out there

Can't beat these for the money.,
This review is from: Ridata/Ritek 4.7GB 16x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
I got these a couple weeks back and have burned about 25 of them so far and all have turned out great with zero coasters. They will burn up to 16x on my Sony burner, but I usually burn @8x just to be safe with all my blank media. Ritek is a good brand and for .18 cents each I'm more than satsified.
