4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, and a great start for an engaging protagonist, March 1, 2005
By
This review is from: The Moses Riddle (Treasure Hunter (Bimini Road Publishing)) (Paperback)
Unlike the other reviewers here, I can't tell you that this book is perfect. But it's got a lot of potential. Kingsbury has gone to great lengths to craft a well-researched and fun book with a solid hero and interesting plot. The plot in particular is interesting enough for me to recommend this book to folks who liked the Da Vinci Code - this book's storyline is also based on the Bible, but puts an archaeological spin on a couple of different cultures involved in a key Old Testament riddle. I liked that Kingsbury had done his homework.

Some of the personalities are a bit cliched - handsome blond archaeologist hero, stunning tanned heroine of questionable motivation, big ugly government baddie out to get them - but Kingsbury puts enough twists and turns in their path to keep you guessing as to who's doing what, and why. The locales his characters go to are fun and interesting, and I think it's no big stretch to say that the author is a fan of PJ Clarks. And for that I have to applaud him.

5.0 out of 5 stars An adventurous story in its own right, November 8, 2004
This review is from: The Moses Riddle (Treasure Hunter (Bimini Road Publishing)) (Paperback)
The Moses Riddle is an exciting mystery, following the struggles of an Egyptologist who discovers a lost account of a secret journey Moses made to Egypt after the Exodus. Following the clues in the text, the protagonist becomes enmeshed in a deadly riddle pointing toward a controversial treasure that ruthless religious factions will stop at nothing to obtain. Enhancing the exciting narrative is a personal challenge from the author - readers may test their riddle-solving, cipher-cracking skills to win a prize worth $5000! An adventurous story in its own right, offering a tempting, mind-bending secret sure to lure in any dedicated code-cracker.
