The privileged Indian of high caste probably will not understand the plight of the `lower class' throughout the history of India and the world. Dr Ambedkar (1891-1956) makes the point that the messages in the Hindu scriptures were manipulated by greedy Hindus to secure a high position for themselves and deny human rights to other humans by making them `untouchables' and `low castes'. Ambedkar himself came from the `untouchable class' and had gone through tremendous abuse in the hands of the `high class'. He felt that the' untouchbles' had no homeland because they were abused in their own homeland.
