This review is from: Ride (Audio CD)
I first heard Jamie Walters voice when he was a regular on 90210.I never really thought abour buying the CD and just kinda forgot about it over the years.About 2 weeks ago I was in a used CD store and found this CD there.I decided to go ahead and buy it.I listened to it that night and highly enjoyed. The songs were all wonderfully sung. The lyrics are so original. This is just an excelent CD.One that any fan of guitarish pop music should buy. A must have!!!!!!!

The greatest album you've never heard.,

Jamie Walters' second solo album is greater than his debut, even though his "self titled" effort sold a lot more copies than "Ride".The main reason for this was the fact that his first album got a much bigger promotional boost, since it's songs were repeatidly played on 90210, the single "Hold On" got heavy radio airpaly (much more airplay than the "Ride" single "I'd do anything for you") and also Jamie's tour in 95 was much bigger than the one he did in 97. Not to mention the fact that Atlantic Records basicly did nothing to promote Ride. I'm one of Jamie's biggest fan if not his biggest, proof of that is my Jamie Walters website at so it really disappionts me when Jamie does't get the credit he deserves. In "Ride" you see Jamie's growth as a singer/songwriter proof of that is the fact he did much of the writing in this album as opposed to his first record in wich he did very little writing. Ride has it all, up beat straight foward Rock N' Roll on fly on sweet angel, country on Matthew Sweet's Winona, and incredibly romantic lyrics on I'd do anything for you; but the best song on the album has to be The Other Side, that has a great intro. This album defantly worth buying and listening to. We've probably not seen the best of Jamie yet though, as he is now in a band called elco. wich sounds' has been described as Radiohead meets Matthew Sweet and as unlike anything heard before. It's hevier than the stuff Jamie has done as a solo artist.

This is one great CD! Every song is terrific and is extremely listenable. Jaime does not get the credit he deserves. Take a chance and buy this CD. I promise, you will not be sorry.

Why isn't Jamie a Mega Star?,

I have only become a big Jamie fan recently. I am a devoted 90210 lover and I remembered him vividly from his time on the show.I didn't remember much else about his music though.A few months ago, I took a chance and bought his first cd and now I'm hooked! But on to Ride-I think it [is bad] that its out of print and has been for a few years now apparently. It is a shame because people are missing out. There are some real gems on this cd. These are great lyrics.I find a lot of them to be moving and relatable. The music is catchy and suits each song perfectly.I listen to this cd a lot. I recommend it highly.

Jamie really is under-rated,

For all of you who give Jamie flak for being on "90210", this really is a good CD. You should check it out. Some of the songs are a little ballad-y and Bryan Adams-ish, but that isn't a bad thing. A lot of them are acoustic-oriented, too. Jamie's voice is very listenable, and his lyrics (while he may not write all of them himself, he contributes a writing credit to most tracks, and did "The Great Escape" performed on an episode of "90210" as stupid Clare and David and Steve and Valerie looked on and laughed meanly, all on his own) are worthy and respectable. Jamie also has an excellent Matthew Sweet cover (the song about Winona Ryder). The guy is talented. Admit it, or give him a listen. My favorite songs are the ones he performs with Zachary Throne (why doesn't *he* have an album yet?!) ; they harmonize beautifully, and "Dog on a Chain" would fit it nicely to any AAA format station's rotation.... speaking of which, I am happy to give Jamie (and the few Zach songs I own) plenty of airplay on my own little community station!
