Great CD, but incomplete,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ride Like the Wind: The Best of Christopher Cross (Audio CD)
This is a great sounding CD. Besides the obvious hits (Sailing, Ride like the wind, Arthur's theme, All right), there are a few superb discoveries (Someday, Love is love), but too bad some great tunes got left out (No time for talk, Think of Laura, Deal 'em again). Until a complete studio retrospective, you'll need this one plus Another Page.

Check out "The Definitive Christopher Cross",

This review is from: Ride Like the Wind: The Best of Christopher Cross (Audio CD)
This CD contains some of Cross' hits but before buying this check out the digitally remastered "The Definitive Christopher Cross". It contains nineteen songs, seven of which were top hits, and also includes "A Chance for Heaven" written for the '84 Olympics. If you're a Christopher Cross fan (and who isn't) TDCC is the ultimate collection to date. For further info check out my review on TDCC.

Where is the American counterpart?,

This release gets 4 stars simply because there has been no effort on the part of Warner Bros. to put together ANY kind of Christopher CRoss compilation! What is with these Neanderthals?! Even Leif Garrett has a compilation CD out, for God's sake...That said, the most essential songs are here: "Sailing," "Ride Like The Wind," Arthur's Theme" and "All Right." But why include "Words Of Wisdom" (From Another Page) when it was never even released as a single? And why put "Love Is Love" on the collection but leave off "Never Be The Same," a top 10 hit single? A definitive (HINT: 2 disc) compilation would include "Think Of Laura," "A Chance At Heaven" (recorded for the 1984 Olympics tribute album) and "The Best Christmas" (1990), as well as several worthwhile songs from his latest releases. Here's hoping this will happen during my lifetime! Until then, this release is well worth the extra cost of admission!

A CLASSIC.,

SAILING, ARTHUR'S THEME and ALL RIGHT are classic radio tunes. Christopher Cross wrote most of the material on this. The entire LP sounds very dated. None of the tunes on this are updated or remixed . Quality of the CD is not THAT fantastic. (W/ref to the West.Gemary pressing) A couple of the hits are missing, LAURA'S THEME, NEVER BE THE SAME... just to name but a few. No lyrics included on this release. Just about the BEST Christopher Cross greatest hits release available on the market right now. Will have to do I guess.

Christopher Cross is an old favourite of mine. I love his voice and his music (even though it now has a date sound). This collection is really good (although in my opinion it isn't complete - hence the four stars only - it's missing Swept Away and I Will).
My favourite songs here are Arthurs Theme, Any Old Time, Ride Like The Wind and Sailing. They are fantastic songs and I still play them on my iPod all the time. He's got such a unique sound that when you hear his voice, you know exactly who's singing. These songs are all great and apart from the two I think are missing, this really is a collection of the Best of his work. I really love this cd.

great songs,
This review is from: Best of Christopher Cross (Audio CD)
i've always dug the mellow tone and groove of Christopher Cross. this collection is the kind of music i can listen to on a Mellow day or weekend. Sailing is a tight laid back track. Ride like the Wind is the kind of track that is a feel good energy type of jam. Michael Mcdonald on the Hook sounds tight. Arhtur's theme is a nice song and I still dig that film. Say You'll be Mine is a good cut as well. Christopher Cross has a strong blend of mid tempo cuts that hold up very well after all of these years.

I've Got To Ride Like The Wind, To Be Free Again!,

This German compilation from 1992, which I bought there two or three years ago, is just what a former reviewer called it: the best sounding and most useful Christopher Cross CD collection available today. My absolute favorite, naturally, is the title track "Ride Like The Wind". The other real good, and very underrated, I might add, tracks include "All Right", "Someday", "Love Is Love", "Any Old Time", "Charm The Snake", and "That Girl". As for the slower-paced ballads, which are all right-sounding as well, they are "Say You'll Be Mine", "Sailing" (This was Number One at one time, wasn't it?), and "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)", whose lyrics were a question on a recent "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"! So, now, I'm glad I still have this CD, it being the first choice one should make for wanting to hear Mr. Cross's highly underrated material. But hey, after he won 5 Grammys in the early '80's, he just couldn't quite sustain that popularity for much longer, as he was featured on a "Where Are They Now?" news special not too long ago. As it's an import, it's higher in price, but still well worth it. By the way, Chris, what's with all the flamingos?
