Editorial Reviews

Review

"If you're investing...... or even thinking about purchasing a motorcycle, this book covers over 400 with only one thing in mind: What will it be worth when you sell it! No other book comes close......." -- Motorcycle Dealer News

"It's easy to fall in love with motorcycles...... but how do you maximize the return on your investment is the sole objective of author Taylor Ford. Best Motorcycle Investments is very unique and the first to address motorcycle purchases as part of an investment portfolio. The book reads like Zen And The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and The Nitely Business Report. His projections and predicitions are futurisitc while conservative. This book belongs on your bookshelf." -- Motorcycle Product News

"This book should be in every prospective buyer's hand. The author givesover ten ways to calculate investment trends and even lists motorcycles to hold for 5, 10 and 20 years. Great perspective!" -- Forbes Magazine

For the serious motorcycle investor, the book offers a look into the future of motorcycle buying, trading, and selling. -- Motorcycle Product News

Whether you're a rider or an investor, you should have this book. -- Motorcyle Dealer News

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, March 16, 2000
By

This review is from: A Rider's and Investor's Guide to Antique, Classic and Used Motorcycles (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this book very disappointing. I can't believe that the so-called reviewers actually read the book, because if they did, they couldn't have rated it this high. It is disjointed, poorly organized, and makes very little sense. I found it hard to understand exactly what this guy thought was a good investment. He also ignored many of the obviously collectible bikes that are out there now-- H2 Kawasakis, Sand-cast 750 Hondas, the Italian lightweights of the 50s and 60s, etc. I was not all that impressed with the author's knowledge of bikes or their values whatsoever. Beyond that, the writing and copy editing on this thing was beyond amateur. My 12 year-old knows more about sentence structure and punctuation!

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Motorcycle Investments is a good investment., February 28, 2000

Taylor Ford's book is a great primer for someone who is looking to get into collecting motorcycles. It gives you many good ideas on bikes that are likely to appreciate and gives you some idea what to pay. However, the real strength of the book is that Mr Ford makes some attempt to forecast what types of bikes will be in demand by collectors in the next 20 years. Whether his predictions actually come true is less important than the focus that it gives you in directing your collecting toward models which are easily available today that may be come tomorrow's hot item. This is a useful book for the serious collector, and even more so for someone who wants to become one.
