5.0 out of 5 stars Ridge Racer V
Ridge Racer V is my favorite soundtrack of the game series. This one really stands out for me. The drum n bass and jazz influences from Ridge Racer Type 4 are gone and in their place a more dirty and rough techno, often even breakbeat in sound. The end result is very pleasing as this soundtrack perfectly represents the techno of the 90's while at the same time, paving the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Ridge Racer Type 4 is still no.1
Through purchasing Ridge Racer Type 4 for my Playstation I was lead to pick up a copy of the soundtrack, as it was one of the best, well in my opinion "the" best soundtrack for a racing game of all time. Through purchasing Ridge Racer Type 4 for my Playstation I was lead to pick up a copy of the soundtrack, as it was one of the best, well in my opinion "the" best soundtrack for a racing game of all time. Many of its tracks were based upon the drum and bass style music. In which I'm not a true fan of but it just captivated me. Tracks such as Quiet Curves, Your Vibe, Move Me and Silhouette Dance, made me want to buy the soundtrack as soon as I heard it. I then heard that Ridge Racer 5 was coming out and so I made it out of my way to play it. I absolutely loved the game but I didn't hear too much of the music, I was lead to think that Namco would do it again and bring out another outstanding soundtrack. When I finally got my hand on the soundtrack I was very disappointed. Not only it consisted of 20 tracks and not 25 like type 4 but Namco had gone back to their old classic Ridge Racer techno tracks now I'm not one to insult Techno music but I was expecting somewhere of the lines of Ridge Racer Type 4 quality. Although track 15 and 7 really got to my interest and made me not so disappointed that I bought the album. I would recommend the album to fans of the first 2 Ridge Racer titles and not so much to fans of the Ridge Racer Type 4 title.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ridge Racer, August 27, 2010
Really I can only recommend this soundtrack if you're a die hard Ridge Racer fan. Its pretty short, only 30 minutes. The techno found on here is very "90s" and it gives me a headache sometimes. There a couple of good songs on here but its so primitive in sound compared to the soundtracks of Ridge Racer here in the new millennium. For hardcore fans only.

Ridge Racer V is my favorite soundtrack of the game series. This one really stands out for me. The drum n bass and jazz influences from Ridge Racer Type 4 are gone and in their place a more dirty and rough techno, often even breakbeat in sound. The end result is very pleasing as this soundtrack perfectly represents the techno of the 90's while at the same time, paving the way for the new millennium sound. My personal favorite artist on here is "U"... His tracks are very brooding and have a great build up. Its worth noting that 2 versions of this soundtrack exist. The first contains "Fogbound" by the Boom Boom Satellites, while the other version lacks Fogbound, it has an exclusive techno track called "Burnout". So collectors beware. Also, there is a nice little remix album released for this called "Ridge Racer V Bootleg" - it contains several remixes and a un-used track from Ridge Racer V.

Ridge Racer V soundtrack is decent. There are few tracks that are really great and others so-so. For me, I liked those few exceptional tracks enough to buy the whole CD.
