The gracefully arched split pediment design shows a book matched crotch mahogany field that is framed with an inlaid border of hard maple and ebonized anegre. The featured vine motif combines Avodire, Black Cherry, Magnolia, and Padauk in a brilliant arrangement. A spiral-carved finial rests on a reeded base between the solid cherry crown moldings. Anchoring the stately design are two massive 3" solid cherry columns featuring a reeded design, and set against the canted pilasters of the main cabinet. Opening side access doors allow for convenient storage of the winding crank and key. Complimenting the top crown is a finely detailed base, which also features an inlaid panel of rare Crotch Mahogany. Raised corner blocks with crotch mahogany inlay, bridge the sculpted feet with the columns above. Crafted exclusively for the Vanderbilt Limited Edition, a dial of brushed pewter and bright brass details blend effortlessly to create a truly unique timepiece. The brushed pewter back plate is acid-etched in a magnificent scroll design of bright brass. Aged brass castings adorn the dial center and corners to accentuate the etching details. A unique time ring features Roman numerals framed by a circular arched minute track. Regulated with the 28-day lunar cycle, the functioning moon dial is canvassed on one half with an image of the Biltmore House and the opposite half with an image of Biltmore Gardens.
