Perfect Size Saw,
By
This review is from: Ridgid 18v Fuego One-handed Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only, Battery and Charger Not Included) (Misc.)
This is a very good saw. It will do all the small jobs you would expect it to do. The surprise is that it will cut a 4X6 in less then 55 seconds. The blade I used for this test was a Ridgid Rapid Demolition blade. So its not going to replace a 10-15 amp fullsize saw but It can do a fullsize job anytime you need it to.There is a video circulating on the net, showing this saw taking almost two minutes to cut a 4X6. This video also compares it to larger Dewalt. All I can say, is try it yourself, because mine cut a fir 4X6 with ease in less then half that time and barely got warm. This saw has a short 1/2 inch stroke like most compacts do. The reason for this short stroke is for the smaller jobs, that this saw is made for. It allows for tighter clearences when doing wall outlets etc. For heavy cutting like a 4X6 it needs about a 4tpi blade so it can clean itself as it cuts. A finer tooth blade in thick wood give you a distorted performance image of what the saw really can do. The blade needs to match the stroke of the saw and, the material of course to. I did a lot of shopping before buying this saw and feel this one covers the most cutting situations. The Milwaukee Hackzaw is easier to handle for smaller jobs and a fullsize will cut thick material faster, but this one lands right in the middle. The safety trigger lockout button is a little clumsy. This seems to be a individual tool from a set that Ridgid sells at Home Depot. I didn't want or need the whole set. Mine came in perfect new condition with a manual and a metal cutting blade, wrapped in plastic. I got mine from the Locomodem seller with overnight shipping for about $119 (shipping about $30) At the time Locomoden was the only seller that could overnite it to me. I would recommend this saw easily.

Saw functions as advertised. HOWEVER, because it is not sold as part of a kit, RIDGID will only guarantee it for three years, not for lifetime, thus spoke RIDGID when I called.

Product is one of the most valuable tools I have. Lots of power when used with the 3W hour battery pack, although if I need to work in a tight space with not much leverage, I'll switch to the 1.5W hour battery pack which is lighter and smaller. Great design with a very slim long profile allows you to get into tight spaces. Works with long or short blades. If you're cutting something that isn't locked or nailed down and you have a long tooth blade, as with any reciprocating saw, the thing you're cutting will vibrate quite a bit. Don't try to over power the piece being cut, switch to a smaller tooth blade which will cause the thing your cutting to vibrate considerably less. The saw has a high RPM so it will still cut through things very quickly even with a short tooth blade. While it is variable, which sometimes can be frustrating, it really seems to have 3 cutting rates, slow, medium and fast, and the range of pull on the throttle makes it easy to keep at any one of these cutting rates. Again, one of the best tools I have. And it was less than $100 by itself, without any battery. Search for just the saw, otherwise you have to buy it in a kit with a bunch of other tools you probably already have or don't really need. You can find 1.5W hour or 3.0W hour batteries online as well. I bought a slightly used one for $50 instead of the typical $85 to $100 and it works great!

This is the most perfect tool for me. One handed, relatively lightweight, easy to use, and works on par with any recip saw in terms of functionality. Just awesome.

Strangely not offered as a separate product by the company, I got this from Amazon and have been deeply satisfied. We were in the middle of a bathroom remodeling, and only regret is not getting this sooner.Light, cuts more than a few pieces before you need to recharge the battery, and VERY easy to handle.

For small jobs, this is my go to saw. It's easy to handle, light and just a great little saw. Not a replacement for a full size corded reciprocating saw, but still GREAT for small jobs. Even used it to cut through 4" cast iron drain pipe!

for quick cuts this is the perfect balance of power and handling. Cutting in a pvc drain system where you need one hand to hold the work, and this saw is very stable with just one hand grip.

This is a great saw for those small jobs. It is very easy to control and works in awkward spaces because of its unique one handed grip. However, it burned through a set of motor brushes in only 3 hours of run time. This may be a common thing since replacement brushes are unavailable or on backorder.
