I purchased this saw at home depot 3 years ago and use it everyday. im a framer and have used almost every wormdrive saw out there and this is hands down the best and most comfortable saw out there. I pair this saw with a freud 24 tooth carbide blade and lasts for a very long time and stay sharp. the features that i really like about the saw is that the miter and bevel guages are all painted with white and the handles and overmolded and very nice to use. this is the only saw that i know of that the depth guage is spot on and the detent on the table for straint and 45 degree cuts is also spot on which helps when cutting those level cuts on rafters. i would recommend this saw to anyone and youll agree its the only wormdrive saw youll ever use. also check out the tools of the trade wormdrive review which rated this as the best wormdrive saw

I've been quite pleased with this saw. It cuts well and seems well built. The adjustments are smooth and easy to read, and it goes well beyond a 45 degree bevel. It has good power, and it fits well in one's hands.
The hook on the side is well thought out as it easily flips up or down to get it out of the way; yet it has just the right amount of tension to hold it where you want it.
This saw also comes with a smooth-cutting blade that I'm quite impressed with.
Now, the down side... The saw comes with a large Allen wrench, for blade changes, and a small, plastic dipstick for checking the oil. These are both neatly tucked under the handle, just below where the cord enters. I at first really liked the idea but, upon using the saw for awhile, I find that one can occasionally catch both of those tools (usually with a loop of the power cord) and they will pull out and drop to the ground. Since this saw didn't come with a carrying case, I have no secure place to leave that dipstick and wrench. The wrench would be easy to replace, but I'm concerned that I am going to lose that dipstick on some job-site before I get a chance to use it.
>>>What I wrote here so far was a review I did soon after purchasing this saw last summer. I have now used the saw for nine more months. I still agree with everything I wrote above, however, I did come across one little situation purchasers should be made aware of. The gear box uses a very special type of lube (Mobil SHC 636)that's all synthetic and MUCH thicker than normal worm drive lubricant. Ridgid will recommend no other lubricant and I'm guessing that using something else will void the warranty. It's tough to find the Mobil SHC 636. It normally only comes in five gallon pails or fifty-five gallon drums for industrial use.

Let's start by saying the saw is decent....get it at Home Depot for about $ Now the bad news.... you can't get a proper rip fence for it ...and I looked hard.... The one from Ridgid fit's the slots but stop's at the plate, making your thinnest rip at 1 1/2 let's say you need to rip 1/8 strip's from a 1x12 your screwed 30 year old Skill could rip all the way down to a saw blade thickness (the guide was able to touch the blade by allowing the guide to pass under the plate) BUT if you don't install door's or window's this saw will be fine...myself I wish I spent the extra $60 and got a saw were you could get a proper fence .....Skill , Porter Cable , Milwaukee or even a Dewalt....Big Mike

I am a Carpenter of 25 yrs. and have used this saw on a daily basis for 5 straight years. Prior to this saw, I saw numerous Skil's being sent to repair for blown switches because of rain, bent guides and frames and overall weakness of everyday use and abuse. They just couldn't "hold the smoke" so to speak. This Rigid is hands down a beast. You can leave it out in the rain all day, let apprentices abuse it, cut conctete or anything with it, bog it down 8 hrs. per day every day and it still cuts a perfect 90 or 45 without exception. The detents hold fast and true and are right on the money. this thing just won't quit. I like that the cord lights up so you can see if you have juice or not, nice bonus. The biggest bonus and the reason that this saw is impossible not to buy is the Lifetime Warranty!!!!! I have not as of yet had to use it, but it is nice to know I will get a free replacement as soon as this one craps out. Skil gives a lousy 3 yr. warranty that just cant compete. This is a no brainer. I picked this one up at home depot for $70 bucks because some idiot returned it and didn't know what they had, score! If there was ever a "no brainer" buy this is it. I would pay $400 for the saw just because of the lifetime warranty. I could go on all day, I go through many tools, but this is the most reliable performer in my collection, a true hardy well built last a lifetime tool. No B.S. buy it, if you don't like it, I dare you to find a better deal. We call it the "Orange Orantutange" because it is just a beast. I never write reviews and have never used a single other rigid tool other than this one! But one thing is for sure, They got this one right!!!!! There are no guarantees in life but I would put my name on it, which is all I have left that means anything.Read more ›
