2.0 out of 5 stars Ridgid Pressure Washer Warranty is Deceptive, June 3, 2011
This review is from: Ridgid RD80701 3,000 PSI 2.6 GPM 5.7 HP Subaru SP170 OHC Gas Powered Pressure Washer with 30-Foot Hose (Lawn & Patio)
When I first got my Ridgid pressure washer, I was quite impressed. Good pressure, nice machine and it came with a three year warranty. I have heard in the past, water pumps can be problematic, even for those of us using them to "dust off" the house every couple months. The water pump on my Ridgid pressure washer failed roughly two years after I bought it. The machine was used at home, not in an industrial setting. Being that the machine was under warranty, I called Ridgid to find the nearest location for warranty service. The servicer immediately charged me $40.00 before looking at the machine to determine if the damage was covered under warranty. After they had the machine for two weeks, I called them to see what the status of the repair was. They had not yet took it apart to find out. Frustrated, I contacted Ridgid on the corporate level. I was then told by the representative that he had called the servicer to get the process moving. Two weeks later, the people servicing the machine told me the damage was covered under warranty (water pump). They said, "we'll call you when it's fixed". Being that I live in Hawaii, it would be two weeks to get the part in and an additional two weeks to put the water pump on. Two weeks to put on a water pump? They aren't replacing the engine in a Bentley! Two weeks pass, four weeks pass, two months pass, I am in contact with Ridgid corporate to explain that this is unreasonable. Eventually, four *months pass. I email the Ridgid corporate representative I had been dealing with, he contacts the service vendor, the service vendor claims he has trying to get in contact with me for weeks! I know this is simply not true. I had saved all correspondence with the vendor and Ridgid corporate. I retrieve my phone records, this vendor had not been trying to contact me. The vendor told the same lie to Ridgid corporate, they seem to believe him, but I have the voicemails and phone records.

The Ridgid representative essentially told me, "hey, it's ready, go pick it up". After four months of waiting, Ridgid seems to think the time, warranty wasted and aggravation of dealing with this situation is appeased because my machine is ready. I told Ridgid they shouldn't contract incompetents to service their machines. The vendor lied, attempted to impugn my character to disguise his lack of competence and I have the records to prove it.

It may be different where you live, but don't take the 3 year warranty offered by Ridgid at face value. If it takes four months to fix a water pump, your warranty won't last long. Save yourselves the headache and buy something else.
