I didn't buy this vac from Amazon, but feel the need to pass on that it is one sweet vac. It has great suction and a fantastic detachable blower. I have and have had lots of different shop vacs, being a contractor there are several in my shop and a couple on the job site. This has the best suction of any vac I've owned, including the Ridgid industrial two-stage, 11.5 amp vac, which by the way I'm truly disappointed in. When we are done framing walls and there's plastic pieces all over the floor from the nailers, we just pull off the blower section and it cleans the whole place out in nothing flat. Love this vac.

I am usually very happy with Amazon pricing, and I buy a fair amount of product from Amazon. But this item is available at Home Depot for their everyday price of $99. I am shocked Amazon is selling this at such a high price.

I used this vac to catch water leaking from a crack in my basement wall after a severe storm. This sucker was put through the test for 10 minutes of wet vacuuming with 3 minute interval breaks to empty the canister for 22 hours straight...To say the least, I highly recommend this shop vac!

I did quite a bit of research on this machine before purchase. I had owned a similar machine (craftsman) over 10 years ago, I have a number of carpet vacuums and a central vac at home. This machine is a great improvement over my previous top of the line machine and so much more powerful than my home vacuums and central vac.

Putting this machine together out of the box was very easy. I put in four screws with a phillips head. Then with a hammer I put a cap on the axle and put two large high quality plastic wheels on followed by the other end cap with the hammer. I used a rubber mallet for the two hub caps. Then the two front caster wheels pushed in easily. The push handle and carry basket easily slipped on.

I purchased the Ridgid accessory 10 foot extension hose. I attached this to the hard plastic hose that came with the machine. Machine, hard plastic hose, extension hose. The Ridgid accessory hose comes with connectors for all their machines. Very easy and straight forward. I believe this is an invaluable accessory and for me I probably would have been happier with an even longer hose. It does not appear to affect the suction.

I put the long plastic extension accessory tips vertical onto the spots on the back of the machine for storage. The other plastic ends I put in the handle basket. Finding a place for the hoses on the machine is tough. The cord, 20 ft, wraps around the top.

I took the machine for a test ride on the back carpeted stairs of the house. I did the top and front of the carpeted steps. The first thing I noticed was that this machine is quiet. It is probably more quiet than the standard cheap hoover vacuums I have. I was shocked how quiet it is, so much more than my last industrial vacuum which was a deafening screamer.

Verified Purchase
The model being listed here is a previous model which Ridgid does not make anymore. The current model is Ridgid's WD1680, which less powerful than the WD1670. One example is the WD1670 blower, blows 265 MPH and the WD1680 blows 180 MPH. Another example is the scroll noise reduction feature. I was shipped the current model (WD1680) not the WD1670. Long story short, I have looked everywhere for this product and was not able to find it. I found a very similar product that is still being produced: Channel Lock VBV1612.CL . The only feature it does not have is the Noise Scroll reduction in comparison.

Im in the middle of a home project.. my really old 16g 1.5h wet/vac is blowing dust out the exhaust... everything coming in is going back out. So I start doing all the research trying to find the best replacement vac for the money... I read the craftsman is a real animal but built like a china doll... Then shop-vac looked good but suction was not as good as the ridgid and they say it blows dust... Im not sure how I ended up with the WD16700... maybe the lifetime warranty or all the good reviews... But let me tell you.. I have put it through the fine dust test.... Right out of the box I was sucking up dry wall dust.... Kept thinking the filter is going to plug... Never happened... Then i had to grind a ceramic floor down.... That is some thick heavy dust... It never plugged the filter.... Every time I turn it on.. it has more then enough suction.... It is a large vac and it takes up some space.... I Was disappointed that it wont take a fine dust bag.. just so I could save the filter from taking a beating. The blower could be a little tighter where it sits on top of vac.... I Really dont have a problem with that im just saying.... Its a work horse and Im glad I ended up with this vac.... Home depot has it for $99. After I finished that project our white carpet was grey.... I sprayed it down with soapy water in sections and used vac to suck it up.... It worked great !!! Here is the big plus.... I found when dumping the vac out you can use the blower to blow filter clean.... Its a awesome vac.......

I bought this to Replace My 1999 Craftsman 16 Gal 6.25 hp motor with blower The Ridgid 16 Gal 6.5 hp Model WD1680 from Home Depot for $99.00 on a reduced Price. I am amazed how well it does I actually also bought the 16 Gal 6.5 hp Craftsman to compare and ended up taking it back to Sears. They have the same power the same 8-9 inches of vaccum and are made buy the same Manufacturer Parts interchange. The Ridged blower nozzle locks into place and has a built in silencer in air outlet (foam) its also taller and thinner requiring less space to store. Its priced great and Im 100% happy with it I would buy this again. Note it has a Lifetime Guarantee on Workmanship others only have 3 years.
