Ridgid will not honor warranty,

This review is from: Ridgid ZRR861150 18V Lithium Ion X3 Hammer Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
Batteries last about a year and Ridgid will not replace them. They will however make you wait on hold for 20 minutes to talk to a customer service rep who will be completely unhelpful.

Lifetime warranty,
This review is from: Ridgid ZRR861150 18V Lithium Ion X3 Hammer Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
From recient experience I can tell you that Ridgid does not necessarily honar their lifetime warranty. Despite religiously, and carefully registerring each new tool-it is supposed to be a lifetime warranty afterall-Ridgid claims to have only two out of ten of my tools (not including registered batteries) registerred. Therefore, they will not honar the warranty on the tools they claim were never registerred.Homedepot on the other hand has been most helpful and has replaced my worn out batteries and tools free of charge, thereby honoring the Ridgid warranty themselves without any obligation to do so. Furthermore, Homedepot has promised to take up the issue with Ridgid. My advice, for what it's worth is to purchase Dewalt rather than Ridgid if like me, you were considerring Ridgid battery tools because of the lifetime warranty.

Only used twice, but put holes through block and brick with ease. Installed CCTV system and all outside mounts were on brick. Would have been impossibe without this drill.

Got this drill as an Open Box Amazon Warehouse deal for a screaming price. Overall i'm thoroughly impressed by its power, i have yet to experience any problems. I work in security system installation (hardwired) and i have already drilled out an entire perimeter of a home with 1 battery charge! Might be a little heavy for those with no previous drill experience, but i find the weight to be nice for myself. I'm sure the new X4 drill sets are equally as amazing. Once again Ridgid drills are lifetime warrantied on battery/charger/drill, so how can you go wrong?

I originally bought this because I wanted to replace my 2 year old Craftsman HD 1/2" Drill/Driver. It had Ni/Cad's and they were deteriorating fast, and always seemed to run out of juice just as I was getting into a vibe, along with the horrible grip that was peeling of in layers in the high friction areas. And I was attracted by the fact that I could still get a Cordless sawzall by ridgid and it would work with the drills batteries, to replace both of my Craftmans.
The first drill I got was great, the batteries were fine and I was THOROUGHLY surprised with the quality of the soft carrying case, which I was expecting to be craaaap. BUT, as with the below review, the chuck was hilariously wobbly. I used it a bit and hell, with the hammer on and that bent of a chuck it was a joke to think I'd get anything done. It was also missing the "included" bit, and had a slight paint smudge on the charger. I think it had previously been returned and Home Depot stupidly put it right back on the shelf. So I went back and returned it and got a perfectly working one, with a straight chuck, and everything there and in new condition. I must say this is the BEST drill I've used, and I've used them all in the school woodshop including the renouned Milwaukee Hammerdrill V28, DeWalts I've owned, Makita's, and Bosch'. It has superb torque, effortless power for drilling and driving, great balance, and the battery life is great; even when being switched between the reciprocating saw and the hammerdrill. Overall, Great Product;Great Power;Great Balance,Great Build Quality;Great Value **Highly Recommend

Chuck is the weak point,

I bought this drill for my father who already owns a non hammer Ridgid drill (model# R840011) and a Ridgid driver (model# R842301). Both are Ni-Cad and I liked the fact that this would complete his set and that the battery charger that comes with this Lithium Ion hammer drill will also charge his Ni-Cad batteries so that he wouldn't need to carry two different chargers to every job site.
Soon as we opened the box everything felt pretty well made. The batteries have cooling vents and the drill felt like it had tons of power. He could even fit his other batteries and driver in the same carry bag that came with this drill. We were happy with it until we decided to insert a drill bit and check the chuck (a Jacobs 700 series). We couldn't believe how much it wobbled. We then inserted the same drill bit into his older Ridgid drill that has a Jacobs 500 series chuck and it spun perfectly. I then decided to insert the drill bit into my personal hammer drill, a Milwaukee 2611-24, that's been used very hard for over 2 years and it also spun perfectly (to the naked eye of course). With the amount of wobble this chuck produces there is no way that tapcons will hold properly and it makes the whole drill useless. I do not recommend this drill.

Watch for chuck wobble - runout,

I had to go through two with chuck wobbles before i found one with acceptable chuck runout. I guess in China, they don't care about that stuff, but those used to American tools will probably notice and complain about chuck run-out. If there is unacceptable run-out, send it back, if ridgid gets enough returns, they will pressure their chinese supplier to up the quality control.

This has got to be one of the best cordless drills out there. I've had numerous others but none of them have come close to performing anywhere near to the level of this drills ability. Highly recommend it.
