Ahead of his return to directing in 2013, San Francisco Bay Area director and playwright John DeGaetano has just released for a limited time the scripts to several of his new plays on a royalty-free license.

DeGaetano's decision to release his work for wider performance comes as popularity builds for the pieces. Comedy, silliness and real life situations are addressed in DeGaetano's work - the passion that begins to open its door to aspiring actors interested in interpreting and experimenting with the dialog.

DeGaetano, in addition to his background as a business advisor is known for his management over the artistic look and casting of the performances he directs for the stage. He often employs the same stark, simple lines and color while often reflecting in the characters to at times set in unusual surroundings and movement.

In a recent interview, DeGaetano said that he encourages people to adapt these new stories any way they see fit. "They can make it an musical or perform it with six or eight characters," he said. "I'm really interested in the future of the theater as a place that grows more community support and fosters creative talent of all ages, an open place where interesting, entertaining things happen. It really doesn't have to be an epic drama to be great."

The playwright, whose works are now available on Amazon, announced his decision to post the plays online, and has featured them in greater detail on his personal website as well. They include titles; The Fat Man, Situation in Safe Haven, Once Upon a Crime, Average Joe and a brand new Sherlock Holmes adventure in Sherlock Holmes and the Princess Jewel. DeGaetano said he's heard from a few that are considering performing the pieces with their own twists and encourages more inquiries.
