5.0 out of 5 stars Remembering a love of horses
Reading this book and the Tao of Equus got me back to riding again. I've always loved horses, but felt that I was too old, too out of shape, too inept. Reading these books and absorbing the wisdom made me get out of my chair and start lessons again. So here I am, over 50, trotting around a ring escorted by mostly 12 and 13 year olds, who are far better than me, loving...

3.0 out of 5 stars Riding Between Worlds
Though overall this book is too "new age" for my taste, I believe Ms. Kohanov probably does a tremendous amount of good pairing horses with people and solving inner or repressed emotional conflicts at her ranch in Tucson, and in the clinics she presents. I found the examples she sited very believable for both horse and person, and truly believe horses can heal emotional...

The way Linda Kohanov researched this subject was very apparent in the way she was able to present other people's work, such as
Karla McLaren's theories on emotions. She tied it all together for me. For anyone who wants to learn to be real, authentic, and loving..this is your book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riding Between the Worlds, March 8, 2004
By A Customer
Once again, Linda has done an excellent job of discribing the nuances of the horse/human dynamic. Linda skillfully describes how our thoughts, fears and emotions influence our relationships with both horses and humans. Riding Between the Worlds is a must-read for anyone who wants to develop subtle communication skills with horses. I found this book to be more instructional than The Tao of Equus. In this book she not only breaks out key elements, but also provides helpful charts in the appendix, which are good resources and references.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read even if you are not a horse person!, May 6, 2004

One of a few books everyone in the world needs to read!
Riding Between The Worlds offers true deep healing through the way of the horse.

People dream of a world of Peace, a world of Healing, a world of Love; Linda is one of the light workers that is creating and living in that world today. She guides, assists, and holds the sacred space for others to transform. The world we all long for in our hearts, whether or not we are consciously aware of it.

My heart opens to Linda, for the personal healing and feelings brought forth in me! (aaah to actually "feel" my feelings, what an experience!). My love of horses rekindled, I now see them for the magnificent beings of deep wisdom they are.
With my hands on my heart and tears of joy, I send my gratitude to Linda and all her four legged and two legged healers.

This book is a must read. Elegantly written, a fascinating subject presented in a graceful, yet scientific manner. I could not put it down until finished. And I plan to read it again, just as soon as I read Linda Kohanov's other horse book, "The Tao of Equus". I am not a horsewoman, but I learned to love the unique healing gifts horses have in their relationships with us two-leggeds. My thanks to Linda Kohanov for expanding my awareness in this field. Her elegant prose is joy to experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Courageous and much needed, April 14, 2004
Like the Tao of Equus, this book will probably mostly appeal to Highly Sensitive People, but it is good information for the other 80% of the population. After reading some of the reviews for the Tao of Equus it is clear that some of that majority either aren't interested or are incapable of understanding the information presented in these two books. Nevertheless, it is a courageous act on the part of Linda Kohanov for the rest of us, that 15-20% who have been squashed, like the horses, for being extraordinarily sensitive and intuitive. If this sounds like "whining" to you then you probably won't get it even though the author presents the information in a thought-provoking and often emotionally-charged manner. You'll never convince those of us who cried and were moved the whole way that it's "fluff." It's healing for us, healing we've been waiting a long time for. Thank you, Linda, for speaking out, for empowering me and for being an advocate for the horse "field."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Ride You Won't Forget, September 17, 2007

This review is from: Riding Between the Worlds: Expanding Our Potential Through the Way of the Horse (Paperback)
When I saw the beautiful cover of this book, and the intriguing title, I couldn't wait to read it. It promised mysteries and a wild ride into the unknown. Actually, the riding is transformative. The author overcomes a destructive marriage to find her way back to life through her interactions with some very wonderful, talented, compassionate and truly honest animals. A lifetime of fascination with, and interaction with horses leads her into an astonishing field of work, using members of her herd as therapy animals, in the treatment of trauma victims and people with emotional problems.

There is so much to this book that resonates, for anyone who has ever ridden a horse, or wanted to, or just enjoys watching them. Some of the stories are just inspirational. There is a wonderful section in which her beloved mare, Rasa, prematurely foals, and a community of helpers keep the young horse warm with body heat and take turns milking his dam so he can nurse. What a fantastic story.

Some of the horses are stories themselves. There's Noche, the abused horse, who is tender and kind with abuse victims. There is Merlin, a disturbed stallion, who finds love. There is Rasa, a powerful empath and spiritual guide.

I kept waiting for the book to turn New Age-y, but it's not preachy at all. This is one woman's journey that touches and heals. I won't look at horses the same way again.

5.0 out of 5 stars HONOR THYSELF THROUGH THE WAY OF THE HORSE!, March 11, 2004
Linda uses her experiences with her own herd of horses to enlighten us to our own emotional process. What horses can teach us is a lot! Linda explores the highly attuned language of the horse and how they react to our subtle cues and emotions. She shows us that humans and horses can work together with the intention of healing and get remarkable results on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels. Her case studies are amazing. This is mindblowing work and is relevent for all of us as we struggle to access our true feelings, reach our potential, and deepen our connection to all our relations.

Linda and her herd have helped me to see things in a whole new arena. Her love and respect of both horse and human are obvious in every word. This book and her previous, "The Tao of Equus" have change my life forever. I highly reccommend this book not only for the horse fanciers but for anyone interested in expanding there own potential through the way of the horse. I anxiously await the next book from Linda. Thank you for putting into words what my heart has always felt.

What a beautiful book. Her story of the experience with Noche the horse in the early part of book moved me. Noche put into words what frustrates me about humans - how we flee from joy. I keep the quote on my wall at work.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book, December 3, 2003
By A Customer
This is a good book although it is not as good as the first one. It had quite a bit of repetition in it especailly in the beginning. I realize the whole point of the book was to use personal examples that illustrated the theory behind the Tao of Equus. The stories were very good and did accomplish the aforesaid goal but there was still more fluff in this book than in the first one. I would definitely recommend it though as it does have more new insights within. It's just not quite on a par with Tao of Equus.
