1.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe this book has so many positive ratings!
Riding Temptation is basically your typical story about a guy who pushes a girl away for 282 pages of a 292 page book. Only about 2 or 3 of those pages is them talking about it and the rest is them having sex. I don't get how this is romantic at all. The entire book you have a girl throwing herself at a guy who repeatedly rejects her, acts like he is doing her a favor...

This is a story of friends who become lovers, which is my favorite theme in a romance novel.

Jessie Matthew was a 15-year-old street kid when she was caught by Mac Canfield (the hero of Riding Wild) as she was about to hotwire and steal a car. Mac rescues her from the street and takes her to "Wild Rider" headquarters where she is brought under the wing of General Grange Lee, made to get an education, and groomed to become an agent. Jessie is basically considered a sister to the rest of the guys, Spence, AJ, Paxton, Rick and Diaz who are all introduced in "Riding Wild". They all have criminal youth backgrounds and were chosen by General Lee because of their unique talents.

Jessie is now 23 years old and aching for her first assignment. She is well trained, a seasoned biker, and she is a virgin and half in love with Diaz Delgado.

Diaz is my favorite of the Wild Rider men. He is pensive, tends to be a loaner, extremely intelligent, drop dead gorgeous, and he has a tortured soul that needs the love of a good woman. (lol) Like the rest of the agents, he is totally committed to his career and the current mission whatever that may be.

The agent's mission in this story is to infiltrate a biker gang, "The Devil's Skulls", because of information linking the gang to a group of gunrunning survivalists. Diaz is team leader working with Spence and Jessie, who is given her first assignment.

Diaz has watched Jessie grow into a beautiful, independent woman who can hold her own training with the guys and is passionate about riding her motorcycle. He has more that brotherly feelings toward her but refuses to act or acknowledge them because of personal issues, and she is `Jessie' and has always been protected by the guys on the team. He therefore avoids her like a plague.

Jessie has been harboring feelings for Diaz for a long time and wants to be his lover. She also wants to prove herself worthy as a Wild Rider. Over the course of the mission she uses every feminine wile in the book to seduce Diaz until he can no longer resist 'temptation'. The sensual encounters between these two lovers are at times raw and wicked but also tender and beautiful. Diaz is very experienced sexually and Jessie is an extremely willing participant. Jaci Buton has a gift for writing and weaving beautiful erotic love scenes into her romance stories, and this story is no exception.

I will say there are sequences involving an orgy, voyeurism and exhibitionism in this novel. However, no matter what the situation, Jaci Burton penned even some of the kinkier sex in such a way that it never offends or lacks tenderness.

The action subplot is exciting and suspenseful. Ms. Burton delves into the `code' that bikers live by and how riding is a passion, a way of life really. She also makes readers aware that bikers come from all walks of life. She dispels the belief that all bikers that join gangs are `criminals'. There is however the underlying investigation of the survivalists gunrunners that is tense and thrilling. This book is full of some exciting, action sequences and the agents find themselves involved in near death experiences on more than one occasion.

The road to Jessie and Diaz's HEA is a rocky one, as he refuses to acknowledge his feelings or commit to a relationship. This hero really pushes our heroine to the edge, but I found the conclusion to their love story very gratifying.

"Riding Temptation", also give readers a more insight into Spence, who is the hero of "Riding On Instinct". Spence is quite the ladies man, he prides himself on loving them and leaving them! (lol) Well, I guess time will tell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gimme a hunky hero on a Harley!, October 15, 2008

The Wild Riders have always treated Jessie like their little sister. That's OK, she looks at most of them as her big brothers - except for Diaz. Her feelings for him have never been even remotely like sibling love.

Diaz, however, can't seem to view her as the woman she is now rather than the young girl that came to live with the Wild Riders all those years ago. Worse, he runs the other way whenever she comes near.
Now Jessie is joining his team on her very first mission. The job will keep her and Diaz in close proximity, something Jessie plans to take full advantage of, employing every womanly wile she possesses to determine Diaz's true feelings for her...

I really loved the first book in Jaci Burton's WILD RIDERS series, RIDING WILD, and with its sequel, RIDING TEMPTATION, the author surpasses my expectations for this series!

Just like that first story, this book stars a hunky hero straddling his Harley-Davidson - NEVER a bad thing! Also like the previous book, we meet a heroine who is just as capable and ballsy as the hero, able to meet him on an even footing and hold her own with the big boys when the action starts.

Ballsy is definitely a really great way to describe Jessie. This woman is practically fearless, but still has the right amount of common sense. She has lived a hard life, and still managed to blossom into a loving woman who wields a good understanding of right and wrong, and chooses to take the high road. A straight-shooter, she isn't afraid to call things like she sees them, and always lets a person know where they stand with her. Oh yeah, she also manages to be one of those sexy, beautiful women who is aware of her looks without relying on them or trying to make other people conscious of them. She's the kind of girl men want and women want to be friends with.

From the moment you meet Jessie, it is plain that Diaz will never stand a chance against this force of nature once she sets her sights on him. He gives it a valiant effort, but the battle is truly over before it ever begins. Still, you have to give him an A for effort, even if his intentions were totally misguided in his attempts to resist the attraction he harbors for Jessie.

In his own mind, Diaz is nowhere near a hero. His fear of repeating his father's mistakes is so great that he is reluctant to form attachments or let anyone too close - especially women. The very fact that he is concerned about becoming his father says it all - Diaz is not the kind of man who condones violence against women. It just takes a lot of patience, some self-realization, and a swift kick in the seat of his pants to get him to see the truth right in front of his eyes. It's a good thing Jessie is quite capable of delivering both the patience and the swift kick. LOL

Jessie really doesn't play fair when it comes to snagging her man, and the results are absolutely delicious! I wish I had half of her cajones with men... Of course, the undercover job they are working on, posing as lovers joining a biker gang under suspicion for arms dealing is the perfect catalyst to propel her seduction along.

As with the previous WILD RIDERS book, this one has as much action outside of the bedroom as it does in it, as both our hero and heroine work together fighting crime. Ms. Burton spins a fascinating plot with a few twists, all while delivering a romance sure to inspire a night of real-life for many readers... Let me just say it is the kind of romance that most husbands see tremendous benefits from their wives reading!

RIDING TEMPTATION has it all - action, suspense, romance, and sensuality all wrapped up in a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you clamoring for the next story in the WILD RIDERS series!

Riding Temptation is basically your typical story about a guy who pushes a girl away for 282 pages of a 292 page book. Only about 2 or 3 of those pages is them talking about it and the rest is them having sex. I don't get how this is romantic at all. The entire book you have a girl throwing herself at a guy who repeatedly rejects her, acts like he is doing her a favor having sex with her and then finally breaks down because he doesn't want other people having her. This relationship was too one sided for me to enjoy or for me to recommend. My h need to have a little more self respect and my H need to actually act like they want and love the h. This book lacked all of that. If you don't mind reading a book about a female with no self respect, constantly getting rejected and used for sex and a H that puts no effort into the relationship, you might enjoy the book. I did not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riding Temptation, November 5, 2008
This review is from: Riding Temptation (Mass Market Paperback)
Infiltrating a biker gang in hopes of finding the evidence needed to bring them to justice for illegal arms sells is a hard enough job for an experienced operative like Diaz. The last thing he wants to do is baby sit Jessie, a hellion bent on playing with the big boys even though he's adamant she's not ready. The youngest member of the Wild Rider Crew, a band of misfits turned legit, Jessie has yet to be given a chance to put her training to use. Ready and anxious she's unwilling to let Diaz stop her from getting the chance to prove she's more than able and ready to bring down the bad guys.

Good thing Jessie is just as stubborn as the man she desires and she refuses to give up her dream of having Diaz. Pulling out every trick in her arsenal, in her book, to make him realize she's no longer the starry-eyed teenager he first met is just what she's willing to do.

Diaz is a man who's tortured by his past, a past filled with violence and rage. Rage he's been able to control and the last thing a rough and tumble guy like him needs is to touch an innocent like Jessie. He will have to keep his cool as he takes his team into the clutches of what could be a life threatening assignment but most of all he will have to figure out a way to keep his hands to himself.

Continuing her streak of impressive offerings Jaci Burton's latest Wild Rider addition brings plenty of fire and excitement in a story that makes me rethink the appeal of bikers. In Riding Temptation, a rough agent with a cynical view of the world is paired with a fresh eyed young woman who refuses to take no for an answer. From the beginning, the story takes on an emotional intensity that's palpable but intriguing. Jaci created a heroine who was sharp and street smart but still an overwhelming innocent. Rounding off this winning combination is Diaz, the strong silent and take-charge type who was able to bypass his rough beginnings and make a career on the right side of the law. Riding Temptation is definitely a keeper and great complement to the Wild Riders series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Those Wild Riders certainly know how to show a girl a good time now don't they?, March 7, 2011

Buggy "SUNNIE Day reader" (British Columbia, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Riding Temptation (Mass Market Paperback)
RIDING TEMPTATION is the second instalment from the erotic Wild Riders series and while I didn't enjoy it as much as RIDING WILD (book #1) once I was able to suspend belief with the somewhat cheesy storyline and just go along for the (ahem) ride this was a pretty good read. Jaci Burton's writing is easy, fast paced, fun, ultra steamy and holly jeez can she ever write a smoking hot love scene, encompassing just about every naughty little fantasy you've ever had. Tie that together with a team of hunky, bad boy bikers and how could you not enjoy this?

Even the fact that our heroine is a virgin which I find not only over used as a plot device but unrealistic didn't bother me here because it's explained in a way that actually makes sense. As did the fact that once her virgin label was removed she was really, really into it. So like I said the storyline was neither here nor there for me, in fact all the biker gang initiation stuff was pretty silly, but the love scenes and romance make up for it. And in all honesty if hadn't spent a summer (years ago) riding around on a Harley with a guy named Fang I may have enjoyed this a whole lot more. Those were the days...

Jessie Mathew came to live at the Wild Riders compound at the age of 15, rescued off the streets by their leader, a former military general now operating the Wild Riders as an elite gang of special-ops bikers. This band of former thieves and felons work alongside the government but just outside of the law and Jessie has literally grown up amongst them, leaving all of the riders to think of her as their kid sister. Now 23, Jessie's ready for her first undercover assignment. When teamed up with Diaz Delgado she couldn't be happier; he's the quiet one, the one who's always kept his distance and the one she's always wanted.

Diaz meanwhile is having un-brotherly urges, finding it near impossible to keep his distance from the sweet and oh so sexy Jessie. To make matters worse they're about to infiltrate the Devil's Skulls, a bike gang suspected of gunrunning. In order to do this though they'll first have to get initiated in and (for whatever reason) initiation into the Skulls involves having a public sex session in front of the other full patch gang members.

When Jessie lays her heart on the line and admits that she doesn't want her first time to be in public or to a random gang member, all bets are off for Diaz. Of course he'll take care of her `little problem' but how will he keep their hearts out of the deal? Burton has also given him one of those common tortured hero issues to deal with as well. It seems he's just not good enough for her, what with all the dark secrets and rage he's got locked inside. So while the mission keeps them together he'll enjoy the (ahem) ride but once its over, for her own sake he's going to walk away even though she'll hate him for it and his heart will break it's a price he's willing to pay. Ride on...

Having read one other book by Jaci Burton I was truly surprised by her Riding series. I read this one and loved it so much I had to buy Riding on Instint too which is just as good. I have become a ridiculous reader lately and Jaci has become one of my favorite authors. This book offered some super hot scenes and a really interesting story line that was different from the traditional ones. I totally recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It!!!!, October 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Wild Riders series is one of my favorites of all time, and I have read hundreds of romances. Diaz is grumpy but very endearing, and Jessie is a strong self-assured heroine you can acutally like. I actually don't like this as well as Riding on Instinct, but I can't bear to give it only four stars..When Jessie finally pushes Diaz to his limit, it is such a relief!!! Love scenes are schorchingly hot, but laced with emotion. That tension is what makes a great book. Jaci Burton is a very talented lady.
