Riding the Waves, January 8, 2011
This review is from: Riding the Waves (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Drucilla (Dru) Robichoux is a workaholic and has terrible luck with boyfriends - facts that her friends constantly reminder her of. After all, she has pulled herself up as an up and coming Astrophysicist. With one huge project directly in front of her, Dru is sent on a vacation where her only mission is to experience sun, surf and incredible sex. Her first day on the beach Dru sees the just the man for her mission.
Dr. A.A. (Alex) Maddow might be an incredible surf instructor but that is just what he does to relax. In reality, his name and abilities bring in the big scientific bucks to projects. Alex is taking a break before commencing on his next contract project. One afternoon Alex comes in from a surfing to see a gorgeous woman on the beach, and just has to find a way to get closer to her.
A whirlwind romance seems to be leading to something else when fears and jitters end it early. Both Alex and Dru approach their day jobs only to discover that they are now working together on the project that could make Dru's name in her field. Emotions on both sides make this project an explosive one that seems to be going from large to giant, until emotional fears threaten to tear not only the project apart, but Dru and Alex, too.
Can a vacation fling lead to forever? Dru and Alex seek the answer in Riding the Waves. I could see right away where Dru hid, and all but smothered, her fun and playful side so she would be taken seriously. On the other hand, Alex was the exact opposite. I wondered just how the two sides were going to find a way to co-exist when it appeared they wouldn't be able to. I was very happy to see that Alex figured out the answers to his questions in time to keep Dru, and for them to find out how to ride out the waves as a pair. Riding the Waves shows that sometimes a vacation fling can really become your lifetime love.

Riding the Waves, January 28, 2012
Workaholic physicist Drucilla "Dru" Robichoux has never had great sex. Ever. Her partners have been as exciting as the Theory of Relativity, but a part of her thinks she's just as boring. Convinced by friend and co-worker, she heads to Mexico for a much needed vacation for some relaxation and perhaps she'll get lucky enough to experience mind-blowing, wild monkey sex. In Mexico, she meets Alex, a hot surfer boy who teaches Dru to ride the waves by day, and to ride him by night. Once she returns home, she learns that her new co-leader of a research project is none other than her surfer dude. He's still interested in her, but will he be just as enamored once he gets to know the "real" Dru? Riding the Waves is a fun, spicy story of two very intelligent, flawed people that come together under ideal circumstances. When they meet again it's in a highly professional, sterile environment and it's clear that had they not already shared some wild, intimate nights and were meeting for the first time, those experiences never would have had a chance to happen. Alex's constant moving around starts out looking like he's the rock star scientist that spreads himself thin amongst all the current projects to give them credence, but it really does become apparent that his flitting about is a cover for his fear of settling down in any one place. Of course Dru takes it the wrong way and thinks he's only around for the short haul and will never want anything more from her than a quick romp in the hay, so she gives off vibes that she's this wildly dedicated, success ladder climbing professional whose career is her first priority and everything else takes a distant second. While it is somewhat true, Alex sees her as only wanting him because he's a star... and of course for the toe-curling sex. The push-pull sexual tension between Dru and Alex is off the charts steamy and their repartee is intelligently witty, making a stereotypically dull profession some serious zest. Both characters for their strengths and their flaws are easy to love and any reader would root for their happily ever after right from page one. Courtesy of Fallen Angel Reviews
