The story promised to be interesting but nothing was as promised. The story was lame and the characters appeared to have the mental age of fifteen years olds. Moreover, it was really boring and I couldn't finish it. The only parts that were good were the sex scenes and they are really not worth paying the price of the book. I am sorry, I really tried to like this book,...

The last man Lily West ever expected to see again was Mac Canfield - especially coming out of the very museum she's been hired to test the security for, and especially not holding a priceless artifact he obviously just lifted from said museum!

She could certainly have never anticipated what happens next - Mac whisking her off on his Harley and kidnapping her to keep her quiet!

But all is not as it seems. Is Mac really a thief, or something much bigger going on here?

To say that Jaci Burton's upcoming Berkley release, Riding Wild is hot would be a complete understatement. Scalding, scorching, searing, blazing - even those words do not truly do it justice.

Even without the Harley and the leathers, Mac would be one of the sexiest Alphas around, but in them? Whew, he is simply devastating. It is no wonder that Lily has never forgotten this man, or that he gets to her so easily when he stumbles back into her life.

And Lily. Lily is a complete surprise to Mac as well. Gone is the young and naïve girl he first knew, and in her place is a woman more than capable of holding her own in any situation, whether in bed or in a gunfight. No real surprise seeing that this Alpha's desire for the lovely Lily is ramped up quite a bit upon seeing the way she's grown up.

Throughout the story, we find our couple thrown into one dangerous situation after another, depending on each other for survival, and finally learning to trust each other without reservation, despite the necessary secrets they keep from each other.

Riding Wild is a must-read for anyone who loves sexy romances filled with plenty of action and suspense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riding Wild, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Riding Wild (Wild Riders) (Mass Market Paperback)
Private investigator Lily West is on assignment. Her client wants her
to check out the night security detail at a Chicago museum. While
watching the security guards talk in the lobby and not do their job,
Lily thinks back ten years, and the object of her daydream? Mac
Canfield. Hearing a Harley motorcycle on the street makes her think
back to when they were young and involved. No other man has ever made
her feel as he used to. Coming out of her revelry, Lily is dismayed
to see a motorcycle pull up to the back of the museum and a man
somehow jimmy the lock and get inside. Before she is able to call for
help and alert the museum's lax security guards, the man is back
outside with a priceless artifact. And he looks just like Mac Canfield!

Mac Canfield owes Grange Lee and the Wild Riders everything. Ten years
ago, he was on a path of self destruction where the only bright light
in his life was Lily West. On a dangerous assignment in Chicago, Mac
needs to steal a top-secret vial and turn it over to the government.
The coast is clear when he breaks into the museum; however, once
outside his past is staring him in the face and she is holding him at
gunpoint. Mac does the only thing that will keep them both safe. He
grabs Lily and drives hell bent for leather away from the museum. Now
all he has to do is convince Lily that he isn't the enemy without
blowing his cover.

If I didn't love a Harley man before, I most certainly do now. Mac
Canfield is my ideal for a tough, Harley riding alpha male. From the
top of his head to the bottom of his leather chaps, Mac is sin
incarnate. And I adored every molecule of him. His undercover work
aside, I felt he was loyal and downright sexy. He had never gotten
over Lily and I could tell with every emotion he used with her that he
still cared. Mac had never forgotten Lily and Lily for sure had never
forgotten Mac. No other man ever measured up to him in her eyes.
Every time Mac had to thwart Lily's questions concerning his
profession broke my heart because I know she wanted answers but I also
knew that Mac couldn't tell her for very good reasons.

Riding Wild is definitely one wild ride! From cover to cover I was
enthralled with the plot, the emotions, and the sensuality. Jaci
Burton's ability to write dominant bad boys makes me sweat. I have
one wish - I am craving in the worst way for the rest of the Wild
Riders to have their own stories. Might I volunteer the heroine Talia?

Riding Wild releases on February 5 - run, don't walk, and purchase
this phenomenal story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wild and Sizzling read!, July 13, 2008
This review is from: Riding Wild (Wild Riders) (Mass Market Paperback)
Reading Jaci Burton's RIDING WILD was awesome. A quick summary of the book first, Lily West is a private investigator, former police who is doing work to evaluate security at a museum. Mac is her first love that left her ten years ago without any reason or meaning. Mac's a bad boy! He's had a difficult upbringing that Lily believes nothing has changed in 10 years. After she finds him breaking into a museum, she gets caught in the middle and Mac is forced to take her along with him.

Without having to give more details of the story, GO READ IT! The sexual tension between Mac and Lily steams off the pages from the very beginning when Lily recalls their relationship in the prior years. As Mac takes Lily on a wild ride (gosh, I so love heroes on motorcycles. Jaci does this fab!) trying to lose those who are following them and getting the stolen virus into safe hands. Mac is keeping details from Lily to protect himself and Lily will not give up and so hard tries not to fall for Mac again.

I was captivated to the pages of this book! As a reader, I was feeling I was in Lily's place so many times. This author Jaci Burton has a excellent writing voice that gives you so much visual and sensual connection that you will feel you are right there along with them. Gosh, I don't know how to say this any other way, but I was panting along with Lily. The suspense was so intense, so real, as their love was for each other, that you'll be visualizing it as a movie you are watching.

If you love sizzling romance suspense book this is the one to read. Days and months after I finished the book, scenes were still with me. I'm picturing scenes and feeling them just as intense when I was reading it. This is totally a keeper, and can't wait for Jesse's story in RIDING TEMPTATION!

(VINE VOICE)
This book was my first experience with Jaci Burton. Wow! Let just say 30 pages into this book and I ordered the other 2 books available in the series - Riding Temptation and Riding on Instinct.

Now I am going to be fair in my review - I saw a lot of reviews that said it was poorly written - and I did notice several grammar mistakes and a couple of words that were used incorrectly. Now I can say that this did bother me some but, even with the writing issues - I would purchase this book again.

This book is a prefect mixed of exotic romance and mystery. The characters she used fit the story. I find that a lot of writers will only develop the character enough to tell the story - this is not the case. I believe she took great care to ensure that the characters became important to the reader. I can't wait for my other 2 books to arrive - if they are only half as good, then they will still be great.

I rarely give 5 stars but I would give more if possible. Pick this one up - You will not be disappointed. This book is HOT...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wild Riders Is A Wild Ride, March 12, 2009
By
LeaF (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
This is the first book in the "Wild Riders" series and is a story of reacquainted lovers, which is one of my favorite themes.

Lily West, a smart, savvy Dallas policewoman turned Chicago private eye is on her latest assignment to test security measures at a museum where a priceless exhibit is on display. Lily is outside watching the museum and planning to break in to demonstrate how lax the building's security is. As she watches the building in the dark Lily becomes lost in a fantasy concerning her first lover, Mac Canfield who she hasn't seen in 10 years.

When Lily hears the rumble of a motorcycle, which quiets in an alley outside an entrance to the museum she is jolted from her fantasy and on alert. A man, who looks achingly familiar, disembarks from the bike, breaks open the museum door, enters and then exits holding something obviously valuable. Lily approaches the man with her gun drawn, instructing him to raise his hands and turn around. The man who turns to face her is none other than her previous lover Mac. To say Lily is stunned would be an understatement, and Mac is equally so at seeing her interceding during his museum heist.

Once regaining their wits Lily lunges for the artifact that Mac is holding, which goes flying and breaks to reveal a vial that she later learns contains a virus that could be lethal to millions of people. Then bullets start flying at them from an unseen assailant. With their lives in the balance Lily and Mac escape on his motorcycle. This sets the stage for an across state "wild ride", and when Mac refuses to let Lily go she believes she has been kidnapped by a criminal.

Mac, however is not a criminal, he is an agent working with a super secret government agency called, "Wild Riders", founded by the enigmatic General Grange Lee. I won't go into any more details about the "Wild Riders"; you'll have to read the book to find out more. However, I will say that all the male agents are totally hot and very "Alpha".

After sexually initiating Lily 10 years earlier Mac left her because of differences in social class. Essentially, he felt he would hold her back if he stayed and their relationship intensified. Despite Mac breaking her heart Lily has never forgotten him, she has had other lovers over the years but longed for his touch.

Jaci Burton's "Wild Riders", series is published under the `Heat' division of Berkley and these books are sexually explicit. The love scenes between this couple are erotic and intense. Lily is comfortable with her sexuality and experienced. Mac is forced to come to terms with his feelings for the beautiful woman he had left behind so long ago. The sexual tension sizzles between them until 10 years of pent up longing boils to the surface. Jaci Burton writes amazing love scenes in her erotic romance novels, while certainly hot, there is a always tenderness, that inevitably makes me *sigh*. As a reader, I always fall for the hero, she draws me in and keeps me entranced.

The underlying action plot is rife with intrigue, and twists and turns as Mac tries to keep the enemy at bay and complete his mission to deliver the vial safely with Lily in tow. He wants to tell her about Wild Riders but is sworn to secrecy, which makes for significant conflict and difficulties between them. I will say that Lily plans and executes an evening of seduction, then slips Mac a Mickey Finn in an effort to escape which leads to a riveting chase sequence.

It is certainly evident that Jaci Burton knows motorcycles, the psyche of riders, and she loves riding. She and her husband Charlie, who is affectionately known as "Biker Dude", ride their Harley together and she goes to rallies and events with him. I could feel the wind in my face and feel Lily's aches and pains after hours of riding behind Mac on his Harley.

Mac and Lily's story is not only sweet and erotic, it is suspenseful, fast paced and laced with wit. Jaci Burton's sense of humor certainly shines and she had me laughing out loud at some of the dialogue and situations portrayed in the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNING..., September 12, 2009
By
Buggy "SUNNIE Day reader" (British Columbia, Canada) - See all my reviews
RIDING WILD is the perfect fantasy escape book. A bit like candy because you know it's bad for you yet it's oh so good. So strap on your leathers, hop on the back of Mac's Harley and hit the open road. It's sure to be quite the adventure as you dodge bullets and try to stay one step ahead of both your sexy kidnapper and the bad guys who aren't far behind. You'll be staying in tents, cheap motels and attending bike rallies along the way but you won't have any responsibilities. (Think no job, kids, husbands or laundry to worry about.) Just the wind in your face, the open road ahead of you and an engine purring between your thighs. So wrap your arms around that bad-boy hunk you've never quite been able to forget, snuggle in behind his broad shoulders and get ready to use him for a no strings affair.

Yeah, I really liked this book. It was fun, exciting and very, very sexy. Mac as our hero is never quite who he appears to be. Still it seems, running from a troubled past and the one woman he could never forget. Lily West is no longer the virginal girl he left behind either but now a spirited P.I who's pushed her memories of Mac aside and isn't going to believe his lies anymore.

Our couple are reunited at a museum as Lily attempts to stop a priceless artifact from being stolen. She'd never expected to see Mac again and it appears he hasn't changed either, he's still a thief. As the bullets start flying it's all Mac can do to keep Lily out of harms way and not blow his cover. She has no intention of going anywhere with him however and may just shoot him on the spot. All of which means Mac's going to have to resort to kidnapping to keep her quiet. This is going to be quite the trip down memory lane as our couple hits the road. Mac can't tell her who he's now working for and Lily is willing to use any way necessary to steal the artifact back, even if it means using sex as a weapon. This time Lily's going to leave Mac just the way he left her years before; loving her and wanting more.

I can highly recommend RIDING WILD which is the first of the erotic Wild Riders series. I'm definitely planning another escape soon with the follow up RIDING TEMPTATION,
