5.0 out of 5 stars There is no possible way you can go wrong with this album, August 31, 1998

Arguably one of the best Dub albums to ever grace the genre. A very good pick for someone who is not to familiar with Dub music (instrumental reggae with little to no vocals) as well as for those who collect it. Most of Scientist's albums include the brilliant musicianship of the Roots Radics band, and this is no exception. This is definitely one of those albums you will keep around and listen to forever - I'm currently on my second copy of the album, I wore the first out. However, if you're looking for something that sounds like Ziggy Marley or UB40, this is not for you. Scientist got his start working under King Tubby, the originator of Dub, and is very much a Roots Reggae artist who combines heavy bass, crisp and clean well pronounced drums and lots of echo effects to truly 'mash up the place.' - KCA

Believe it or not, I first heard trax from this CD in the controversial videogame Grand Theft Auto 3. (Which is awesome I might add ;o)! ) I've never really considerded myself a fan of the reggae style sounds, but I am hooked!

5.0 out of 5 stars Throw down the weapons and turn up the bass!, February 11, 2004
This review is from: Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires (Audio CD)
Admittedly, I came to this disc through the avenue of the PS2 insta-classic Grand Theft Auto III. Music was a central part of the game; there were more than half a dozen distinct radio stations playing both real material and songs created for the game. K-Jah Radio was the dub station, and it featured five of the cuts heard on this classic Scientest album:

'Dance Of the Vampire'
'The Mummy's Shroud'
'The Corpse Rises"
'Our Teeth in My Neck"
'Plague of Zombies'

Being dub, this is mostly without vocals, with a distinct production that is the Scientist's trademark. I was unaware how highly regarded this album (and artist are), but I'm glad I came to it, even if from the video game realm. If you even remotely liked the GTA tracks, this is a great intro to the genre. Despite the title and artwork, this is certainly no horror soundtrack. It's some of the best head-nodding music I've ever heard, particularly 'Dance of the Vampires'. The cool, laid back approach is decorated with blips and bleeps and otherworldly effects. My only complaint is that it's too short--37 minutes. Its a great disc from beginning to end and is best enjoyed that way.

Part of the GTA magic is the contrast between the music and the mayhem on the streets, so while terrorizing Liberty City in a stolen Yardie Lobo, you'll be listening to dub, or even opera.

There is no GTA III soundtrack disc available, so this is where to get those Scientist tracks. Highly recommended.
