5.0 out of 5 stars There is no possible way you can go wrong with this album, August 31, 1998

Arguably one of the best Dub albums to ever grace the genre. A very good pick for someone who is not to familiar with Dub music (instrumental reggae with little to no vocals) as well as for those who collect it. Most of Scientist's albums include the brilliant musicianship of the Roots Radics band, and this is no exception. This is definitely one of those albums you will keep around and listen to forever - I'm currently on my second copy of the album, I wore the first out. However, if you're looking for something that sounds like Ziggy Marley or UB40, this is not for you. Scientist got his start working under King Tubby, the originator of Dub, and is very much a Roots Reggae artist who combines heavy bass, crisp and clean well pronounced drums and lots of echo effects to truly 'mash up the place.' - KCA

5.0 out of 5 stars Throw down the weapons and turn up the bass!, February 11, 2004
This review is from: Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires (Audio CD)
Admittedly, I came to this disc through the avenue of the PS2 insta-classic Grand Theft Auto III. Music was a central part of the game; there were more than half a dozen distinct radio stations playing both real material and songs created for the game. K-Jah Radio was the dub station, and it featured five of the cuts heard on this classic Scientest album:

'Dance Of the Vampire'
'The Mummy's Shroud'
'The Corpse Rises"
'Our Teeth in My Neck"
'Plague of Zombies'

Being dub, this is mostly without vocals, with a distinct production that is the Scientist's trademark. I was unaware how highly regarded this album (and artist are), but I'm glad I came to it, even if from the video game realm. If you even remotely liked the GTA tracks, this is a great intro to the genre. Despite the title and artwork, this is certainly no horror soundtrack. It's some of the best head-nodding music I've ever heard, particularly 'Dance of the Vampires'. The cool, laid back approach is decorated with blips and bleeps and otherworldly effects. My only complaint is that it's too short--37 minutes. Its a great disc from beginning to end and is best enjoyed that way.

Part of the GTA magic is the contrast between the music and the mayhem on the streets, so while terrorizing Liberty City in a stolen Yardie Lobo, you'll be listening to dub, or even opera.

There is no GTA III soundtrack disc available, so this is where to get those Scientist tracks. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Really Great Reggae Albums, June 3, 2002
This review is from: Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires (Audio CD)
I never seem to tire of this dub masterpiece. Every track is mixed with a poet's touch. Scientist learned well from Tubbys. If you like this, try Heavy Weight Dub Champion and Dub in the Roots Tradition.

Some of Scientist's most smoked out dubs... In my opinion, Scientist is the most creative dub artists of all time, and he his at his creative peak on this album. If you're a dub fan who is into a heavy mix of effects, and a chill-out style, than this is an essential album...This is one of those dub albums that can make you melt away.

This album is absolutely brilliant. It is very sophisticated; the layers of sound permeate into eachother beautifully. This is dub at it's best. One of my favourite CD's.

5.0 out of 5 stars so spooooooooooooky, February 1, 2000
This review is from: Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires (Audio CD)
This is one of the best reggae dub albums I have ever heard. Such melody and rhythm.... the shear beauty of the compostitions and Scientist's trademark mixing style will send you on a trip into the dub-conscious. You will find yourself bobbing your head to every song. If you arent a reggae fan, this album may just be the ice-breaker. Scientist and Roots Radics at their best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Listened to all by Scientist... and this is the 1!, November 4, 2011
This review is from: Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires (Audio CD)
I was lucky enough to board with a dj who had every one of Scientists albums on vinyl. Over a year span I listened to all of them and ended up getting a copy of 'Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampire' for myself. He was agitated, "Why don't you buy a different album?" You know, he wanted me to find some new stuff. "But this is the best dub album." A week later he agree with and forgave me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought the reviews were too good, February 2, 2010
This review is from: Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires (Audio CD)
After reading all the hype and glowing reviews for this recording I was curious to see if it really was as good as claimed. It was. After three listenings, I can indeed confirm that this is the sickest dub album of them all. A shame it seems rather rare and hard to find. Then again, its scarcity may add a little to the intrigue.
