Made in Austria by the world's most renowned wineglass maker, Riedel Crystal, founded in 1756, this classic decanter is blown from 24 percent lead crystal. It is magnum size (1-1/2 liters), perfect for one or two bottles of red wine. While the most common use of a decanter is to prevent sediment in an aged red wine from spoiling the wine's clarity and brilliance, some authorities also recommend decanting young red wines to give them the opportunity to bloom. In either case, this spectacular decanter brings a breathtaking elegance to the dinner table. Standing 9-1/2 inches high on a 9-1/2-inch-diameter base, its proportions are as perfect as the crystal. Riedel crystal is used by fine restaurants all over the world and thus must stand up to frequent trips through a dishwasher. 'Perfect' decanter for young wines but the magnum is no use. Take the regular 'Ultra', for a bit less money and the same effectiveness (if not better).
It does not need any accessory to pour the wine as the shape of the decanter takes care of everything. The wine flows perfectly automatically to the botton across all parts inside. You will see what I mean after the first time you use it :-)
