The Best for Everyday Wine Glasses,

I own dozens of wine glasses from the most expensive lead crystal to winery logo glasses. I also have a set of Reidel Vinum's as well. I bought these for everyday/dishwasher use. Wow! Both the Red and White are wonderful... I side by side taste tested (glass to glass) my Chardonnay (yes, mine) and the White Wine Glass was way above average and perfect for everyday. Frankly, white wine dosen't need a snifter glass as some do...Tip: It also helps to not fill the glass to the top and please don't freeze the Chardonnay!!

Since we bust up wine glasses with distressing regularity, this inexpensive set by a name manufacturer seemed like a good bet. We haven't been disappointed. The size and shape are good, and the quality of the glass and finish are excellent. Best of all, they can go in the dishwasher!

Best Buy for Every Day Wine Use,

I was impressed by this new arrival because of the Brand name "Reidel" and was looking for a glasss for "drop in" guests and summer cookouts and these four glasses fit the bill perfectly! This way if I break one on my tile floor I won't "burst into tears" at the loss knowing I got a great deal on Amazon. Com and if "someone" breaks one, I'll order another 4 for backup! These will be great for lunches, packing in a picnic basket for summer outings and simple but nice for casual entertaining.

If you're like me, you'd rather put your hard-earned money towards nice wines than on overpriced glassware. However, wine just doesn't taste the same if you drink it out of a plastic cup (yes, I am a college student). These entry-level glasses from Riedel fit the bill perfectly for my needs and are a great value for the price. The nose is enhanced, the taste is more pronounced, and the overal wine experience is heightened by using a high quality glass like this one. Plus, if one of them accidently gets broken, at [a small price per]/glass its not a big deal. However, I wouldn't trust the dishwasher with these glasses even though the description says you can. And yes, they are not crystal but they are very close at a fraction of the price. Highly recommended.

My favorite wine tasting glasses,

I love the Riedel Ouverture series glasses and have the red wine, white wine and magnum sets. Only $8 per stem and the same shape as the much more expensive Vinum series. Supposedly, the no lead allows them to be put in the dishwasher, but I always hand wash them. Good light but strong wine glass with a nice length stem; many wine glasses have overly long stems. Don't know why more wine stores don't carry the Ouverture glasses. For me, they are the only ones to own.

These are NOT Riedel glasses!,

This review is from: Riedel Ouverture White Wine Glasses, Set of 4 (Kitchen)
These white wine glasses come in a silver colored package that says "Riedel" on it, not the usual red and black, and looks a lot like a low quality knock-off. That definitely alerted me that something wasn't quite right. The glasses themselves were surprisingly small and obviously of a much lower quality than genuine Riedel. Mine had imperfections on the base and looked more like ordinary glass than German crystal. Furthermore, the seal on the base doesn't even say Riedel, it's some other logo. At this price, this is clearly a rip-off. Stay away, either buy genuine Riedel from a reputable merchant or go with another brand like Spiegelau.

Great glasses at a great price. Also stylish and clean lines. I would recommend this line of glassware, of which I purchased the entire set.

The Ouverture White glass holds 20% less wine than the red. It' a reminder to pour smaller portions of white so the wine doesn't warm up too quickly in the glass. I personally find the smaller size to be a bit too fussy, but one of my favorite tasting companions prefers this glass no matter what we're drinking. A great deal of your experience of wine comes from the aromas that develop in the air above the surface of the wine. A glass that forces the wine to have a large surface area for its volume and then narrows to concentrate the vapors will increase the flavor experience. Glasses with a thin lip seem to interfere less with the taste of wine than thicker (and cheaper) glasses. The shape of the glass makes a difference, too. Since we can only smell molecules that are in the air, the best wine-tasting glass is going to promote evaporation by exposing the largest possible surface area to the air. These glasses are wide at the waist and narrow at the top to get more from their wine. Does it make a difference? You bet-and in every taste test that I've been part of, Riedel glasses win hands down.(For more information on the factors that effect the taste of wine-Storage, Air, Temperature, Food and Context, see New Short Course in Wine,The) The wine simple tastes better in these glasses. The red wine Ouverture glasses are as close to an all-purpose glass as any and they're very inexpensive. It shouldn't be necessary to mention that a wine glass should be clean and odorless. But sometimes restaurants, in their zeal to make their glassware clean use rinsing aids that leave behind a strong mineral smell. If you're spending a lot of money on a bottle of wine in a restaurant, sniff the empty glass first. At home, a film of grease can settle on a previously clean glass. It's no reflection on the quality of the housekeeping-cooking fats disperse in the air and settle on everything in a kitchen. An additional rinsing and a wipe with a clean towel are all you need. These are too shrinky-dinky to count as real wine glasses,

Read the dimensions carefully on this one because the picture makes them look like real wine glasses. They're not! They're tiny little taster glasses that can't hold a proper 5 ounce pour without being too full to benefit from the fancy shape (too little head space for proper bouquet or slosh-free swirling). If you just want cute little wine glasses you can get them much cheaper and they'll work just as poorly. If you want proper wine glasses to do all that sniffing and swirling you need ones that are much bigger. Yeah, this is the same review I put for the red ones, I bought both at the same time without looking carefully at the dimensions because they looked normal (shape-wise yes, size-wise no).

These were great wine glasses. They were a little bit stubby for me, but that is my personal preference. Great quality.
