Makes wine even more delightful,

This review is from: Riedel Vinum Burgundy/Pinot Noir Glasses, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
These glasses are just right for enjoying a pinot noir, shiraz or even a merlot. The curves of the goblet allow you to really swirl your wine to release the 'bouquet'. Hand washing is a bit of a pain, but the experience of drinking a good red wine from this glass is well worth it.

I've had a set of four of these glasses for the past 5 years and I've replaced only one of them. They're gorgeous, feel pleasingly heavy in the hand and make wine drinking a pleasure. They make a weeknight glass of wine absolutely decadent.

We have been using these glasses for over 2 years, and I have not had a problem with any of them breaking, yet. I am very careful when I use them, but it has also survived our move cross-country. I don't wash my glasses with soap all the time, unless it was used by a guest or I ate greasy food along with my wine.

Fantastic for Pinot Noir!!!,
This review is from: Riedel Vinum Burgundy/Pinot Noir Glasses, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
Indisputably the best wine glasses I have for tasting, drinking, and of course enjoying Pinot Noir and Burgundy. I had drunk wine in cheap wine glasses for years, never knowing the effect a good - and proper - wine glass has on the drinking experience. But once I started getting into fine Pinots an Burgundies, I realized I was selling myself short by drinking my wines out of glasses that weren't optimal for the types of wines I was drinking. Once I started drinking my wines out of these glasses, it was like night and day. I couldn't believe how much I had been missing! I experienced so many more subtleties and nuances. The shape and size of these glasses allow the wine to aerate incredibly well and bring out the wine's bouquet; so important for Pinot Noir. The tapered lip ensures that the wine is directed to the tip of the tongue to detect the fruit, while also directing the wine down the middle of the tongue to avoid the bitter centers for as long as possible. I know, it may sound a but hokey, but the glasses really work! I suppose any wide-bodied, tapered glasses could do the job, but these Riedel Vinum glasses are just so elegant. As for their sturdiness, I haven't had any issues with mine, but as they are crystal, I tend to be extra careful with them, especially when I wash them. My advice? Handle them with care and they'll hold up just fine.

Try tasting Pinot noir in a regular red wine glass then in a Riedel glass. The Riedel glass makes any Pinot taste significantly BETTER!

These glasses look great and feel great. However, be careful washing/drying them. I broke three of them over the past year or so. Admittedly, I was not careful with the first breakage, but very careful with the last two breaks. In addition, we probably only use them once or twice a month.

Riedel glasses are expensive, even the "bargain" Vinum series. But what a pleasure to use this glass with a nice Burgundy or a well made domestic Pinot.

I bought these glasses off a bridal registry. I was able to buy them through Amazon and have them delivered for $2 less than if I went to the store where the bride registered! For someone that doesn't enjoy shopping nor have time to do it, that was awesome.

Nice glass, but dangerous!,
By
This review is from: Riedel Vinum Burgundy/Pinot Noir Glasses, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
Nice glass - great shape for a wonderful wine tasting experience BUT this glass is extremely fragile and should be considered a bit dangerous. We bought 4 and I took them out of the box to begin using them. I now have 11 stitches in my hand from washing the first glass when the stem broke with very little pressure. I've washed wine glasses for years and never this result. While I was at the ER my wife went to wash the rest of ours. She knew they were fragile since I just broke one and while gingerly washing the very next one, the globe collapsed in her hand cutting her in 3 places (no stitches). We're not tough people! What if it broke while a guest was drinking? I just think this product is too fragile to be practical.
