These are the best wine glasses I've found, and I've tried a lot. They are perfect for most red wines - being an ideal size unless you are going to be buying multiple varietals and you are a serious wine drinker. We received these for our wedding - the only negative is that because they are nice, they do not bounce when dropped - we broke all the ones we had received so we replaced them all (but keep in mind most broke due to handler error not because the glass was too fragile). I recommend you wash these only by hand, and you actually don't even need to use detergent. To get them sparkly clean - steam them over hot water and it will get out any streaks. If you handle with care (and don't have small kids under feet) they should last you a long time. These are a must have for red wine drinkers!

The wine glasses were sent as a wedding gift to someone else. I was told by the person who received the gift that while the glasses were exactly what they wanted, they were poorly packed and as a result one or two of the glasses arrived broken.

I have bought many of these glasses over the years. As they break I buy replacements. What I like about the glasses is that they are very delicate and I feel that my wine tastes better in them. (Various studies show that the wine glass impacts how wine-drinkers evaluate the quality of the wine they are drinking.) I do break these "regularly" but usually that involves me tipping them over (almost always when they are stacked by the sink!). The first I broke by doing what the instructions say never to do - twisting by the base as I wash inside the cup (you have to twist the cup on the outside to wash inside the base). The price isn't great, but I tell myself that it's a lot cheaper than paying a restaurant a premiium for wine there - I get to drink my wine in a nice glass at home. I gave this 4 and not 5 stars for two reasons: the first because it is expensive per glass and the second because they do break relatively easily. I DO put these on the top shelf of my dishwasher for cleaning and for the most part that is okay - I have scratched one by accident on the outside doing this.
