These are the best wine glasses I've found, and I've tried a lot. They are perfect for most red wines - being an ideal size unless you are going to be buying multiple varietals and you are a serious wine drinker. We received these for our wedding - the only negative is that because they are nice, they do not bounce when dropped - we broke all the ones we had received so we replaced them all (but keep in mind most broke due to handler error not because the glass was too fragile). I recommend you wash these only by hand, and you actually don't even need to use detergent. To get them sparkly clean - steam them over hot water and it will get out any streaks. If you handle with care (and don't have small kids under feet) they should last you a long time. These are a must have for red wine drinkers!

The wine glasses were sent as a wedding gift to someone else. I was told by the person who received the gift that while the glasses were exactly what they wanted, they were poorly packed and as a result one or two of the glasses arrived broken.

I have bought many of these glasses over the years. As they break I buy replacements. What I like about the glasses is that they are very delicate and I feel that my wine tastes better in them. (Various studies show that the wine glass impacts how wine-drinkers evaluate the quality of the wine they are drinking.) I do break these "regularly" but usually that involves me tipping them over (almost always when they are stacked by the sink!). The first I broke by doing what the instructions say never to do - twisting by the base as I wash inside the cup (you have to twist the cup on the outside to wash inside the base). The price isn't great, but I tell myself that it's a lot cheaper than paying a restaurant a premiium for wine there - I get to drink my wine in a nice glass at home. I gave this 4 and not 5 stars for two reasons: the first because it is expensive per glass and the second because they do break relatively easily. I DO put these on the top shelf of my dishwasher for cleaning and for the most part that is okay - I have scratched one by accident on the outside doing this.

We used to live in the Rhone Valley of France and love wines made from the Syrah grape. I was so excited to see that there were glasses especially for this type of wine. The glasses were packaged well and sustained no damage during shipping. They are beautiful, classy glasses. The stem is a little over 3 inches in height which is perfect for your hand. The glasses in total are about 9 1/2 inches in height. Highly recommended.

I did a lot of research before deciding to buy these glasses, and I am very happy with my choice. They are excellent and work for a number of different red and white wines. My only complaint is that one of the glasses was actually broken inside the box upon arrival. However, they have not seemed particularly fragile when we use them (no more so than any other wine glasses.) In fact we even put them in the dishwasher with no problem whatsoever. So, I might consider buying them in person rather than having them shipped, but otherwise I'm very happy with these!

Riedel's are simply the best in wine glasses. This 4 for the price of 3 was the best value at the time. Riedel's bring out the best in the wine that you're drinking and serving. 15-20 years ago I was somewhat skeptical until a friend introduced them to me. Not only that, i find that many of the glasses that are varietal specific really do a better job for the respective varietals than other high end glasses. Another friend suggested the Vinum Red Burgundy glasses for Chards and White Burgs and they work very well as well. These Syrah/Shiraz glasses are superb.

These are wonderful glasses. They help the Syrah show all it's merits. Great deal, buy 3 and get 4. Was sent Zin glasses by mistake but Amazon immediately provided a shipping label and before the mistaken box had arrived at Amazon I had my set of Syrah glasses. Great service, great deal, great glass.

These are the best large crystal glasses I could find for less than $25 per glass. The sound they make when you touch glasses is one of the best things about drinking wine. Riedel calls them "Syrah" glasses but they also work well for white Burgundies, for Provencal Roses, and for red Bordeaux. Riedel also makes a Vinum glass which they call "Bordeaux." The difference between the Syrah glass and the Bordeaux glass is the width of the aperture at the rim. The diameter of the Syrah's rim is slightly smaller than the diameter of the Bordeaux's rim. The smaller aperture concentrates the bouquet for whatever wine is in the glass. The Syrah glass also swirls wine more effectively than the Bordeaux glass. You will have to spend in excess of $40 per glass to buy better glasses than these. Most wine shops and kitchen stores have the Syrah glass for sale in the $25 to $30 range, so buying them from Amazon makes sense. Shipping is not a problem. The glasses arrive in a well-designed cardboard packing box. If you like to travel with good wine glasses, you can re-ship the glasses in the box or stow the box in the trunk of your car with your luggage. The only negative aspect of the Syrah glasses is that you have to wash them separately from other glasses and, when you dry them, you have to be careful not to snap off the stems. I dry mine with paper towels. This exerts less pressure on the bowl which reduces the chances of snapping off the stem.

Perfect glass for white wine. I know it's for Zin also, but we use the Syrah glasses for reds. Bought 2 boxes of each (4 for 3 deal) and love them all.
