Beautiful glasses poor packaged received first set b roken second set is beautiful

I got these because they matched the rest of the Riedel Wine series glasses that I own, but am not overly expressed with the look. In my mind, Champagne glasses should be elegant, light glasses which serve to lift the experience of drinking the wine. These are very large, straight glasses which do not excite me in any way. As another reviewer noted, these are big, about as tall as my red wine glasses, which have a huge bowl, yet the bowl on these is straight and uninspired. It looks like they took a stem, created a curve on the bottom of the bowl, then just left the rest of the bowl unfinished. A gradual curve narrowing towards the rim would have given the glass some shape and elegance, something these desperately need. This is one where Riedel glassmaking does not live up to its name in my opinion.

The product that I purchased was fine, except that the packing that Amazon did was extremely poor....Very little padding for glassware. As a result, 1 champagne flute was broken.

More care in shipping is necessary. I'll think twice before buying glassware from Amazon.....books....no problem.

We will be returning our set because the design is not as delicate as it appears in the photo-hard to describe. We have always been very happy with Riedel, so a simpler design will be chosen.

I gave this as a gift to a dear friend of mine who hosted my baby shower. Let's just say she loved it! Riedel glasses state quality and elegance-they are one of the best glasses for wine and spirits currently made today. Therefore as a wedding gift, birthday, holiday, or just any day this is an ideal item with a touch of class for any person on your list.

We have searched often to find Riedel champagne flutes for our son and his wife. We found them on Amazon! Only two sets were available. We ordered. Next day two more were available. We ordered them. The orders arrived before Christmas (earlier than estimated) and they were thrilled---except one flute was broken.

These glasses are described as holding 5-5/8 ounces. A serving of champagne is 4 ounces, so I was excited that I would be able to fill my guests' glasses most of the way while still giving them a reasonable portion.

The glasses arrived this morning, and I could tell my looking that they were not 5-5/8 ounces. If you fill one to the brim, it is 8 ounces. I can't imagine how they arrived at the very specific (yet apparently arbitrary) 5.625 number.

My two key criteria were that (1) I was looking for a glass that would hold around 6oz and (2) I wanted it to be tall and slender. So, I can only give this glass 1 star. It is tall and fat, and holds nearly 1.5 times as much as they say it does.

Other than that, it is as described.
