5.0 out of 5 stars Getting the RIGHT putter, September 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After having bad putting results for years, I asked a Pro Golfer "Why is my putting so lousy?"
He looked at my present putter, knew I was pulling it a little. He said my shaft on the putter was wrong for me.
He immediately said I needed a specific putter......RIFE'S 2-BAR HYBRID MALLET CENTER SHAFT PUTTER.
The factory size of 33" works great for me since I am only 5 ft. Yes, I am putting a lot better.
I like the extra feature of where I can insert weights to make the putter heavier; easy to put weights in, if needed.
Amazon delivered it pretty fast and free delivery was appreciated.

After ordering this putter based on all the positive reviews on other websites and giving it a try, all I can say is WOW! Also, Amazon.com had the lowest price advertised on the web and in stores.

I consistenly left putts short with my old putter and all this time, I thought it was me. For a long time, I have felt like I have a good idea about hard I should hit a putt to get it to the hole and for a long time, my putts continued to fall short of the hole.

I took the Rife putter out for its first round last weekend at my club event. I have never been a confident putter and am accustomed to 3-putting most of my holes in a round. I am a high handicap golfer, madly in love with the game, who realizes that the quickest path to lower scores is fewer putts.

For me, this putter lived up to its expectations and more. If you read the putt correctly and put enough on it to get it to the hole (this putter will help you do that), it will go in more often than not. I had 4 1-putt holes that day and was able to complete my round with only 2 of 18 3-putts which is FAR fewer than I have ever had in any round!

The big kicker is that I was playing with 3 other golfers have much lower handicaps. With my high handicap, I was able to help our team to a 2nd place net finish. One of the golfers, who plays to a +2 handicap, went so far as to compliment my putting skills. I have never received praise for my putting and that meant a lot, especially coming from a less-than-scratch golfer.

On one of the par 3s, I hit a beautiful 9-iron over water 161-yards to 9 feet. This was an uphill breaking putt I would have always left short but not this time - right in the cup for birdie and a net score of 0!

Rife's claim is that this putter has groove technology and less loft (2 degrees where most putters have 3-4 degrees). When you combine these, the putts jump right off the face and the ball loses very little, if any speed due to backspin and gets rolling right away. There's no apparent bounce, skip or slide after impact. The putter also has a larger sweet spot and off-center hits are less errant and seem to keep most of their speed. I have to think this is the main reason my putts invariably fell short of the hole. Now they get to the hole or go by the hole. One does have to get used to not having to hit the ball so hard because this putter does more of the work.

Also, aligning putts is much easier with the railroad track features on the back of the putter. There's a little white mark with 2 notches on either side. You line up for the putt, look down at the putter and move the shaft until the white spot is between the 2 notches and you are ready to go and perfectly aligned - no more guesswork!

I highly recommend this putter for anyone who struggles with making solid contact or getting the ball to the hole. Now my putts actually have a chance of going in almost every time. The look of the putter may be a bit unwieldy, but you soon get over that when you realize you can make more putts and leave the lag putts closer to the hole than ever before!

As a bonus, I have begun to develop more confidence over the ball and instead of fearing the putt, I now relish it. There are 2 sets of adjustment rear weights that come with the putter and you can swap them out to see which one works best. You can also adjust the lie angle but I have not yet experimented with that.

I am looking forward to many years of successful putting with this baby.
