I had been putting with a classic blade for years with generally excellent results. As I've gotten older, however, physical issues - left shoulder and neck pain due to an old sports injury and worsening eyesight - combined with a lack of practice time (I have a young daughter) have affected my stroke and confidence. So I felt I needed a change and was looking for better technology in a classic shape. After trying probably 100 different putters and having my stroke checked on Ping's new putting app, I decided on the Rife Abaco. As the online photos indicate, this has a classic mallet footprint and features a prominent blade-shape face. It's got a medium, toe-down balance - not as toe-down as the classic blades but enough to permit an open-square-closed stroke I've always made. The T-lines on the putter help me line it up a little better on short putts, so that's good. Its perimeter weighting helps when I strike the ball off the sweet spot, which on this putter happens to be right on the paint line. Best of all is the grooved putter face which is designed to get the ball rolling with minimal skidding. The grooves act to deaden the hit like a polymer insert, which allows me to stroke through the ball a little more aggressively on faster greens. As a result, I'm back to putting with confidence instead of putting defensively. Since the switch, I've definitely made more putts from 15' and in. This is an attractive, well-designed putter, well worth the price.

I own the Titleist 910 D2, Titleist 910 F, Titleist 910H, 3 Titleist Vokey Wedges and Titleist 710 AP2 irons however, I don't have a Titleist Scotty Cameron. I make a ton of putts with my Rife Abaco! The alignment aid gives confidence and assurance that my putts are going in.
