Borzoi fiction-,

This review is from: Riff, Remember. (Hardcover)
This book is good, though is slightly depressing. It is the story of Riff, a young adult Borzoi who's fate is undetermined when his elderly mistress dies. Riff is saved by a young boy who's family owns a hunting lodge. The family can't understand the boy, who prefers to hunt with a camera instead of a gun; nor can they understand Riff, because he is very different than their hunting dogs. The sad part of the story hits when Riff's boy is shot accidentally by some hunters... and Riff sets out to track down the people who shot his boy. Its a decent book, but a little depressing.

This review is from: Riff, Remember (Paperback)
I read this book in 7th grade, and it has remained with me ever since. For years after reading this story, I dreamed of having a Borzoi dog when I grew up. Not a practical dream. It is a beautiful and haunting story for those who love dog books, but it's a sad one. The wonderful thing about this story--the true power of it--is that it will never leave you. Once you've read it, it just kind of becomes a part of you. I keep this one inside my heart, always.

I've been trying to find this book for some time. I read it as a kid, and our local library doesn't have it. I'm glad it's still available for my teenage son to read. As the previous reviewer said, it's depressing, but a good story.
