A return to the old William Johnstone style,
By Michael Minnick (Marlton, NJ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rig Warrior (Paperback)
Rig Warrior is a return to the older style of Johnstone. His Ashes series has, of late, not contained the veiled and not so veiled humor and critique of the current political establishment. With the re-publication of Rig Warrior, his old style of adventure and action is available again. Those who read his Ashes series will recognise the tone and content of the book. The lone man or group taking on almost impossible odds and winning. His main character, Barry Rivers, is a younger Ben Raines. He is independent, and free thinking. He respect the country but has little use for the politicians and other power brokers that run it. The story is a good action adventure yarn and has an almost beleivable plot. Rivers uncovers a Government agency that is experimenting on vets, hoeless people and illegal immegrants. The experiments are conducted in several different labs spread over the US. For any who are familiar with William Johnstone's approach, the solution adopted by Rivers comes as no surprise. All in all, the book is an excellent read and I recommend it to anyone who likes a good adventure story, with a little political commentary thrown in.

This review is from: Rig Warrior (Paperback)
Mr. Johnstone's first installment of the "Rig Warrior" does not disapoint. It has been awhile since all of these book have been available and my husband and I are glad they are once again. This story revovles around Barry "Dog" Rivers and his unquinchable desire to see the unjustices in the country turned to positives. Mr. Johnstone's way of writing a story pulls you in and gets your mind moving to the possibility that maybe there are things going on out there that we don't know about (its only a thought). Read this book and enjoy a complex weaving of a tale that will leave you wanting books 2 and 3.
