5.0 out of 5 stars Too Funny; this is a great read! April 16, 2004
I have to say this is the funniest book I've read all year. The stunts that Anna Allstone pulled were hllarious in her search for Mr. Right. I'm sure that most women have been there at some point in their lives, searching endlessly for "Mr. Right" but looking in the wrong places! I highly recommend Mr. Right for the Night for a hoot of laughter!

I picked this up at the airport returning from a trip to Ireland and I laughed all the way home. Anna is an extremely funnyy girl who ends up dating one lunatic after another. I've been there, met those men... brought back a lot of memories!

5.0 out of 5 stars A laugh-out-loud comedy January 31, 2003
By A Customer
If you enjoy a good laugh and like you books sharp and witty, then Mr Right for the Night is the book for you. I bought it after reading Mackle's excellent short-story in Irish girls about town, a collection of short stories.
I could'nt put this down as the story raced along at an upbeat pace and was just full of comic blow after comic blow.
There were no boring bits used to pad out this book, every sentence was well thought out and earned its place on the page.
Pure enjoyment, you will certainly get your quota of belly laughs.

1.0 out of 5 stars American Review May 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I just finished this book and felt the need to write this review immediately. This was probably one of the worst romance books I've ever read, and I've read hundreds! Let me review this book in two parts:

1. The book - This was almost like a stream of consciousness format mixed with ADD. The story kept bouncing from one place to the next. I never knew who's point of view I would be reading from! I felt like there was no real character development. Anna, the heroine (if you can even call her that) just flitted from one man to the next. I didn't even really find it funny, but maybe a lot of the Irish humor was lost on me. There was definitely no development of a hero, if you can say that there was a male hero in this book. At one point I thought that Claire, the heroine's friend, had a better developed story line! The plot had no real rising action. It felt like everything was on the same level. Anna was dealing with the same issues the entire length of the book and never really dealt with anything. Her relationships were very surface level relationships, even to the hero. We never learn anything about the hero or see anything from his perspective. The climax of the story is in the last couple pages, but I felt like it was a let down. The book kept going on and on and it seemed like the author was just looking for an out

Perhaps I could have given it two stars if I had been able to see a difference between when the author was speaking from Anna's perspective or Claire's. But I blame some of that on the formatting, which leads me to my next point.

2. The Kindle Edition (for iPhone) - Whoever transferred this book into the ebook format needs to do some editing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very very funny! May 10, 2003
By A Customer
A huge fan of Irish women writers I got my hands on this book after sampling Marisa's enjoyable story in Irish Girls About Town. Marisa's style is comic - very like Marian Keyes - and the character kind of reminds me when I was looking for a soul mate in all the wrong places. Anna the heroine, was bullied in school and is reluctant to go to the school reunion. Especially since the party (to whom partners are also invited) is being held in Victoria's house. Victoria was the school bully and has married a millionarie. Anna was her victim and although her career is going well she has no man on the horizon. But will she meet Mr Right in time for the party? After all she only needs him for just one night!

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining but Not My Favorite Kind of Romance June 6, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the story even if I did want to hit the main character every once in a while. What bugged me the most was how frustrating it was to be aware of the outcome of the book and reading the main character being an idiot about it. There were some amusing points and some decent story development but I'm just not a fan of the type of romances where the main character goes through a bunch of losers before hooking up with the right one within the last chapter, a little too anti-climatic for my taste. It looses a lot of the romance when you know none of the guys she's trying out are right for her especially when she's being dumb about it. For the price not bad, decent writing, and if you like a little variety for your characters it's the book for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Confusing August 1, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story line is fine, but I had trouble with the flow of characters speaking. The dialogue would change without saying who was speaking. The e-book format was off too.

5.0 out of 5 stars An extremely funny read!!! August 24, 2002
By A Customer
I loved this comic novel by Irish Authour Marisa. Anna, the heroine, was bullied in school by Victoria, the nastiest girl in the class. Now they have all grown up and Victoria is holding a school reunion in her palatial home for all the girls...and their partners. Anna doesn't have a partner but has 3 months to get one for the dreaded reunion night. Well worth reading!!!
