From her debut release, This Time Last Year which introduced an exceptional innocence and uncluttered lyric style, to her last release, Rain & Mud & Wild & Green, Christines music has continued to reveal the many different sides of her artistry, her personality and her spirit. Produced by Ben Wisch, Rain & Mud & Wild & Green was named "Best of 2003" (Folk Category) by Borders Books & Music and was critically acclaimed by national and local press, from The Washington Post to The Dallas Morning News. The raw mix of acoustic textures and rhythms, Christines earthy and elegant voice and her poignant lyric purity all combined to provide a refreshingly real work of art that has given her a place among the most popular touring acts in the acoustic world.
Born and raised in Fairfax, VA, Kane (who now resides in Asheville, NC) has released five CDs on her own record label, Firepink Music (formerly Big Fat Music). With growing record sales and increasing national exposure, her label is now a thriving business with its own inhouse publicist and booking agent.
In addition to playing the listening room and festival circuits, Christine is regularly invited to appear at conferences throughout the country as a keynote speaker, performer, and teacher. In this capacity, she has appeared with world-renowned artists and writers from other genres, including the best-selling author SARK, and Sister Helen Prejan (author of Dead Man Walking). She has taught two years in a row at the Swannanoa Gathering, and taught at both the Song School (Rocky Mountain Folks Festival) and at Americana Song School (Sisters Folk Festival) in the summer of 2003.
Christine also regularly visits Nashville where she has been co-writing and exploring the world of music publishing.
Christines last CD "Rain & Mud & Wild & Green" was named Best of 2003 (Folk category) by Borders Books & Music and was critically acclaimed by national and local press, from "The Washington Post" to "The Dallas Morning News." The raw mix of acoustic textures and rhythms, Christines earthy and elegant voice and her poignant lyric purity all combined to provide a refreshingly real work of art that has given her a place among the most popular touring acts in the acoustic world. Produced by Ben Wisch, "Rain & Mud & Wild & Green" continues to be a sales success.
Her new release, "Right Outta Nowhere" promises to continue the upward momentum with a full national radio and press campaign and is already garnering high praise from within the music industry. Produced by Christine and Dave Pomeroy, and featuring some of Nashvilles most prominent musicians, "Right Outta Nowhere" is a convergence of lyrical poetry, song craft, and acoustic perfection. Songs like "Overjoyed" and "The Good You Do" celebrate both the vulnerability and strength of the human spirit with haunting grace, while others like "Nowhere Left to Go" and "Whole Other World" (co-written with veteran hit songwriter Steve Seskin) leap effortlessly into the realm of mass market appeal. The end result is a testimony to an artist on the verge of deserved national recognition who comes seemingly "Right Outta Nowhere."

Another incredible slice of life and love from CK,
By J. Alex Miroslaw (Chandler, Arizona USA) - See all my reviews

Right Outta Nowhere continues the winning streak of 2002's Rain&Mud&Wild&Green with a new collection of stories that stay with you long after the CD ends. CK's voice continues to mature, speaking with a lovely combination of intimacy, nuance and emotion that pulls you in and leaves you reflective, replenished and refreshed. With top-notch (but wonderfully restrained) production and playing, and arrangements that stay out of the way of the songs, this is one of the top 10 albums produced so far in 2004!

Christine's Right Outta Nowhere CD is another edition of the incredible journey of a sage; soft, witty, wise, inspirational, an exploration of the human condition. Through her CD's and live performances, she has a unique ability to touch the lives of others with the healing power of love, peace, and laughter. As with her previous CD's, Christine exposes her vulnerability with such incredible strength and tenacity, to follow her dreams and share with the world the music of her soul. I recommend this CD, and all her previous CD's, to anyone who is ready to appreciate beautiful art, bestowing abundant integrity and substance. Some stars just shine brighter than others......enthusiastically awaiting her next CD!

heart on her sleeve,
By A Customer
This review is from: Right Outta Nowhere (Audio CD)
Christine Kane is a wonder: a gift for melody, a voice for emotion, and a poet's lyrics. Right Outta Nowhere is a return to the freshness of her folky debut (This Time Next Year), combined with the expert Nashville production. You'll find your heart opened up, because Kane wears her heart on her sleeve, without sentimentality or cynicism.
