5.0 out of 5 stars Another incredible slice of life and love from CK
Right Outta Nowhere continues the winning streak of 2002's Rain&Mud&Wild&Green with a new collection of stories that stay with you long after the CD ends. CK's voice continues to mature, speaking with a lovely combination of intimacy, nuance and emotion that pulls you in and leaves you reflective, replenished and refreshed. With top-notch (but wonderfully restrained)...

CK's voice continues to mature, speaking with a lovely combination of intimacy, nuance and emotion that pulls you in and leaves you reflective, replenished and refreshed. With top-notch (but wonderfully restrained) production and playing, and arrangements that stay out of the way of the songs, this is one of the top 10 albums produced so far in 2004!

5.0 out of 5 stars Eminent!!!, July 17, 2004

Christine's Right Outta Nowhere CD is another edition of the incredible journey of a sage; soft, witty, wise, inspirational, an exploration of the human condition. Through her CD's and live performances, she has a unique ability to touch the lives of others with the healing power of love, peace, and laughter. As with her previous CD's, Christine exposes her vulnerability with such incredible strength and tenacity, to follow her dreams and share with the world the music of her soul.

I recommend this CD, and all her previous CD's, to anyone who is ready to appreciate beautiful art, bestowing abundant integrity and substance. Some stars just shine brighter than others......enthusiastically awaiting her next CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars heart on her sleeve, June 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Right Outta Nowhere (Audio CD)
Christine Kane is a wonder: a gift for melody, a voice for emotion, and a poet's lyrics. Right Outta Nowhere is a return to the freshness of her folky debut (This Time Next Year), combined with the expert Nashville production. You'll find your heart opened up, because Kane wears her heart on her sleeve, without sentimentality or cynicism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be inspired to follow your heart!, June 19, 2005
This review is from: Right Outta Nowhere (Audio CD)
This album is profound and inspiring. I stumbled into a performance by Christine in Fairfax, VA and bought the CD. I love it! The lyrics put into the words many of the feelings and thoughts I have. The CD will inspire you to take a chance and the leap of faith you have been wanting or needing to take.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right Outta Nowhere...and into your CD player, July 30, 2004
This review is from: Right Outta Nowhere (Audio CD)
If you are going to buy one album this year, this is the one! (And if you're going to buy two, get Christine's last album, Rain and Mud and Wild and Green, if you don't already have it...) Christine's music speaks of all the world's greatest beauty, and serves as a revival for everyone who values friendships, earth, animals and the importance of a good deed. Her unique blend of humor and contemplation can let the average person know they are making a difference in the world, simply by following their heart and doing what is right. On top of that, she is a knockout singer/musician and this album showcases her most subtly sophisticated songwriting arrangements to date. You won't regret owning an album from this songwriter who is quickly making a name for herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plush, Alive and Victorious - Her best yet!, May 18, 2004

It was probably eight years ago that I sat in the office of Winthrop University's Student Union digging through demos trying to find the best talent that we could afford to bring to our students for the following year. I stumbled upon a cassette (remember those) of Christine's first release. She struck a chord within me. Her songs elevate the simple truths of life and honor the beauty in the types of struggles we all face every day.

With RIGHT OUTTA NOWHERE Christine has partnered up with musicians that bring a new richness, subtlety and sweetness to her sound. The album breathes easily; sounds like an effortless production. There is an easy and approachable poet quality to her lyrics. On the title track I found myself wishing to be a character in a Christine Kane song. She is the champion of dreamers. If you find it hard to follow your own dream you may find courage and inspiration in these lyrics. I listen to her now and am grateful for the innocence within me, for the gentle souls I've met along this journey and for the music that lifts us all up.

Buy this CD; then go back and explore her similarly inspiring earlier work.

I'm a big folky, and Christine Kane is one of my favorite artists. Her songs seem to reveal wisdom and kindness, with some occassional welcome sass. I got this CD a year ago but listened to it carefully only rcently. It is vintage Christine. This CD displays not only Christine's musicality but also her gentle humanism. I wish she lived down the road and regularly performed at the local coffeehouse.

Just had to let you all know that this one is just as good, if not better, than all the other cds already has out. By far one of my current favorite artists. One of her cds is always in my player. Can't wait to see her live again in the Fall when she heads back to the midwest!

3.0 out of 5 stars I hoped for more that I got., December 2, 2005

I first heard Christine Kane in 1997. It was a small concert venue, and she was really inspiring -- both her lyrics and her stage personality. I still love my autographed copy of "A Thousand Girls."

But I have been so disappointed with her two most recent albums. The music keeps getting more sophisticated and beautiful. The lyrics are stuck, thematically and emotionally, in the same place they were in 1997. As a result, this music no longer sounds fresh to me, and no longer inspires.

I bought Right Outta Nowhere hoping that R&M&W&G was just an anomaly. From the opening lines of the first track, I thought, "It's another Christine Kane song about a woman trying to get away from the oppressive expectations of her family so she can be true to herself." Maybe this is unfair. After all, how many songs are there about there about people having been left by their loves, or finding true love, or regretting lost opportunities, or whatever? But there seems to be a deeper rut here. "Four Legs Good Two Legs Bad" is fun, but the cat hair in the tofu seems an awful lot like it's been sitting around since it did its duty in the kitchen on "(No Such Thing As) Girls Like That" on R&M&W&G.

So, in all, I'm disappointed. From the one live track on Right Outta Nowhere, I think I would still really enjoy seeing Christine in concert. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to matter a whole lot what's on the playlist.
