About the Author

Mark Christopher Scheffler is a professional investment manager and investment advisor living in Appleton, Wisconsin. He is a 1992 graduate of Lawrence University where he majored in both Music Education and Music Theory & Composition. In 1995 he entered the financial services industry as a registered representative of a regional broker dealer. In 2002 he formed Appleton Group Wealth Management LLC, an independent registered investment advisory firm. His firm offers a suite of separately managed accounts, including three core offerings (comprised mainly of exchange traded funds managed using trend-following strategies) and three asset allocation offerings (that offer a wider selection of market-neutral and trend-following strategies). His firm also provides advisory services to a proprietary no-load mutual fund using ETFs and trend-following strategies as well. Portfolios managed by Mr. Scheffler have been recognized and ranked by third-party rating agencies, including Morningstar, Lipper, PSN, On Wall Street Magazine, Emerging Manager Monthly, and The Wall Street Journal. In addition, two of the three core separately managed accounts he managed finished 2008 as the top performing SMAs in their Emerging Manager category. In August of 2008, Mr. Scheffler's firm was named among the Top 20 Rising Stars of Wealth Management by Private Wealth Management, a publication of Institutional Investor Inc. In 2007, the same publication also named his firm among the Top 20 Rising Stars of Retirement Plan Advisors. As of 2006, his firm is Level II GIPS compliant, which requires the completion of an annual third-party performance audit. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he has performed in 2000 with Luciano Pavarotti as a member of the Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee, and has performed as a chorus member at the finale of 1999 Spoleto Festival of Music in Italy. In 1998 he successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. In his spare time he enjoys snowkiting, mountain biking, kayaking, and historic home renovation.

What a disappointment! this book is completely misleading: you will learn absolutely nothing from reading it.
It is a propaganda for the author's financial services. You will finish empty. The author uses 130 pages of tell you to contact him or your financial advisor to discuss market neutral strategy. This book is intended as an advertising brochure.
Don't waste your money.

When the market is in turmoil, it takes wisdom to stay afloat and in the game. "On the Right Side of the Market: Using ETFs and Trend-Following Strategies to Save Your Investment Portfolio, Your Sanity, and Society Itself" is a guide to investing in today's chaotic market to boom when everyone else is busting. With a new philosophy to apply to one's personal finance and portfolio, for a less stressful trading career, "On the Right Side of the Market" is a worthwhile read for any investor who wants to stay on top of things in life.
