Illuminating the terrible struggle within,
By Lisa Lees (Lansing, Michigan USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Right Side Out: In-tune Within, To Be In Harmony With The World (Paperback)
Annah has written a painfully honest book about her long struggle with gender dysphoria and the process of becoming who she knew she truly was. I've read many trans biographies, and I think this is one of the best for getting accross what it feels like to have to make the decision to transition, knowing that it's going to rip your life apart, but also knowing that you have to do it to be able to continue living. If you want a glimpse of what it feels like to live with this terrible choice constantly in your mind, and what it costs emotionally to come to grips with it, I highly recommend Annah's book. (It's not all gloomy, and it does have a happy ending.)

THE book to read!,
By Jennifer "Jennifer" (Providence Rhode Island) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Right Side Out: In-tune Within, To Be In Harmony With The World (Paperback)
Annah is an excellent author she puts the whole transgender story into words ordinary people can feel and respond to! every person transgender or not should read the chapter titled"How do you know" for those who are tg and for those who know us this explains it so well, and for those who don't this will help! the book puts the human in the story of the transgender ,that we are not freaks to be feared or beaten or treated any differently than anyone else ! Annah shows us that transgender people are just ordinary folk who love their families and enjoy life!If you had any questions about transgender before reading it,you will most likely find an answer here. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!

A journey into gender,
By
This review is from: Right Side Out: In-tune Within, To Be In Harmony With The World (Paperback)
Miss Moore gives a nice insight into becoming "right" with ones self and having balance with not only ourselves, but the world around us. Her struggle with Gender Dysphoria not only reveals the conflict she finds within in her own being but how one can deal with the internal struggle in a positive manner and succeed. This story touches on the emotional challenges faced from within as well as the external struggles that the people around us deal with regarding G.I.D. Throughout the book are several photos showing Miss Moore within the phases of her life that show how well she moved from being the lost soul she once was, to the confident person she has become. She truly has become in harmony with the world around her. I would highly recommended this book to anyone dealing with G.I.D, or anyone trying to educate themselves regarding the subject. Kudos to Annah Moore for being brave enough to share her story and attempt to help others who follow behind her...

...Annah's life, I've walked more than a mile or two in her shoes so to speak. I've been a regular visitor to her blog for quite a while, and at one of the darkest times in my life, she was a bit of a beacon. Her book is written up close and personal with feeling and depth. It's not just a story about transition, it is one of survival and freedom. So much about our lives is ruled by how others view us, and breaking out of the cycle of preconceived notions and expectations allows all of us to find our way to the better people we can become. This is not just a book about a woman who paid her dues, it is a story for anyone who has had to overcome hardship of any kind. This book could just as easily be about surviving anything and living a better, more fulfilling life. As a writer, Annah graces the pages, and thus readers with prose that takes the reader on an emotional journey. Wit, humor, and insight into the nature of who we are, how we got here, and where we're going abound. Doesn't matter who you are, or what you're dealing with, Annah's often uplifting writing will be a voice in the wilderness saying you can survive. This book is an emotional roller coaster, you'll laugh, cry, and be taken on a journey that cannot help but strike a cord in anyone who reads it. Regardless of how your life and hers differ, I doubt you'll feel alone as she shares her story. Well worth reading for anyone! This is a journey toward happiness, and how importance and freeing finding it can be. Mind you I've had this book for over a year, but I finally found the right words to do it justice.

Best Book I've Read On Dealing With GID!,
By
This review is from: Right Side Out: In-tune Within, To Be In Harmony With The World (Paperback)
Out of tons of books I've read over the years of dealing with GID this was personaly and by far the best most indepth. This one hit the closest too home for me.I highly recommend this to anyone dealing with GID as well as for family, friends and loved ones of those who are. As hard as it is for people to understand I think Ms.Moore has done a great job of breaking it down and explaining it on a level to help most anyone grasp what it is and why it happens and that its not some choice we make but rather its made for us. Its an awsome book plain and simple.

A beautiful work of art,
This review is from: Right Side Out: In-tune Within, To Be In Harmony With The World (Paperback)
This is a truly, truly wonderful book by someone who is clearly a very passionate, wise and caring individual. The book is full of amazing insights into the transgender condition that will be invaluable, not only to those who already self-identify as transsexual, but also to 'significant others' and individuals currently unsure of their status and future direction. If you only have time to read one transgender autobiography, please make it this one. You won't regret it. Better still, buy this book for its wisdom and healing message, and Kate Bornstein's 'Gender Outlaw' for its liberating political vision.

Annah is so honest and compelling in this book that I cannot put into words what I felt as I read Right Side Out. She has a way of weaving her life's story into a tale of transgenderism that anyone can relate to. Looking back over all the gender related books I have read so far, this book is my favorite for reasons that are difficult to put into words. Maybe it is that I can feel a connection with her that is so loving and supporting from a person who truly cares. Thank you Annah for sharing with us all!

Five stars and a cherry on top! Brilliant!,

This review is from: Right Side Out: In-tune Within, To Be In Harmony With The World (Paperback)
Right side out. The title says it all. This book is one of the best transsexual autobiographies to be published in years. Her wit, realism and plainspoken humanity will resonate with trans and non-trans people. If you want to understand transsexual people this is your book. If you think you are transsexual this is required reading. If you are transsexual this book will make you remember your story, it's like she knows you and what you've been through. Because she has been what you've been through. Gut wrenchingly honest. A page-turner and must read, you're really pulling for her throughout the whole book. What a triumph! Way to go Annah! Five freaking stars and a cherry on top!

Great read,
This review is from: Right Side Out: In-tune Within, To Be In Harmony With The World (Paperback)
Ms Moore had set a new standard for revealing the many struggles, twists, and turns involved in coming to grips with one's gender confusion. She successfully captures the pain, heartache, and ultimately the triumph involved not only for herself but also those who have been a part of her journey. This book is simply a great read! |
