Daryl Purpose, former professional Blackjack player and current peace activist, is moving into center stage of the Folk/Americana music scene. "Right Side of Zero," his 1995 debut release as a solo artist (formerly with the folk group Collective Vision), is a fine example of Singer/Songwriter blending. His lyric and guitar work are perfectly matched by his smooth baritone vocals. This studio album has strong production, and at times touches strongly on rock influences ("Victory in the Struggle", "Don't Tear Down"). His strength is in taking a subject and spinning it to not only tell you what he thinks, but also make you analyze it yourself "(I Will Run", "Don't Tear Down"). Darryl has released three albums to date, and of the three I like listening to this one in the car most. I recommend all of his discs, but you should start at the beginning, and grow with him. He is also a must see in concert.

He reminds me of James Taylor & Jackson Brown. Poetic, thought-provoking, and just easy to listen to. I especially enjoy Hana Bay as well as the title track, Right Side of Zero.
