Product Description

In Right-Sizing Your Home, Gale Steves shows how to make sense of those spaces rarely used and no longer suited to the way we live today. Unlike most home design books, each chapter in this beautifully illustrated book centers on a function in the home--such as bathing, relaxing, or eating--and helps readers assess their individual style and approach to each. Steves takes them through the entire process of Right-Sizing: providing worksheets to examine the uses and requirements of space, dimension guides to illustrate different spatial arrangements within rooms, the right way to measure, how to create a floor plan, and even a clever use for old grocery bags. Additionally, there are tons of inspiring ideas, hundreds of products that can help readers Right-Size on any budget, and a comprehensive list of resources making it easy to find everything featured in the book--everything needed "to make your house fit your lifestyle."

I can't believe there is finally a book about decorating that deals with real issues, real life, and real solutions. So manny decorating books are way beyond my abilities or expectations, not to mention my budget. Right-Sizing is the absolute right size for my lifestyle. Thanks!

This book is truly an achievement-- marrying form and function in one book, making it both beautiful and extremely useful at the same time! The exercises and questions are very relevant and useful and organized very well. I love how it covers lots of angles on lifestyle and preferences, even down to profiling the "secret napper's" bedroom and discussing kitchen design for those who entertain or those who don't. The hundreds of photographs both illustrate and inspire with fresh ideas for storage and design. Now is the perfect time for this book, since many people need to make adjustments in their homes for different ways of living. Well done!

A friend raved about how useful this book was. She lent it to me as I was shopping for a new dining room set. They're expensive and I didn't want to make a mistake. This book is user-friendly and clearly "empowers" you in making a decision. It became fun. I bought my own copy. Renovations, decorating, organizing etc it's all covered here in an intelligent but entertaining way. I'll save a fortune in the future referring to this book before I act.
