5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality
This is a good and steady soul album, well sung and with great titles. Songs like Sleeping with the enemy, Pillow talk or Right time go straight into your ear. Cherrelle gives us the quality she is known for. It's highly appreciated when an artist goes her own way and brings out an album all by her own inspiration. Well done

3.0 out of 5 stars Give her some "Saturday Love"
I've read some reviews dissing this album, so I wanted to give my take on it. I've read some reviews dissing this album, so I wanted to give my take on it. I have been a fan since buying the 45 of "Saturday Love" - and I have also bought her greatest hits which has another one of her best - "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On". Sure, this is not a mid 80's Tabu records R&B album...but that does not mean that Cherrelle has abandoned her roots. This is simply the evolution of a diva. And I have to say that the production lives up to the best of todays R&B. Cherrelle is as smooth as ever, and her music has a contemporary flair that ranks among the best of genre. Sure, the cover design is cheesey (although Cherrelle looks amazing), but that doesn't speak for the production values of the music. Several cuts are enjoyable...the first single and title cut combines decent rap and music for a satisfying package, her remake of the Sylvia classic "Pillow Talk" is groovy, and she even has a few new school R&B ditties like "Sleeping With The Enemy" to please the new fans. And if that isn't enough she and Alexander O'Neal remake the Patti Austin classic "Baby Come To Me" without embarrassing themselves and even throw in a remix of "Saturday Love" that sounds like it was overlayed on "Set It Off". What more could you ask for?

I say this album is a worthy follow-up to some of the other gems from this diva. Enjoy!

I'VE BEEN A CHERRELLE FAN EVER SINCE I SAW HER IN ALEXANDER O'NEAL'S VIDEO "INNOCENT". HER "FRANGILE" ALBUM WAS GREAT,"HIGH PRIORITY" WAS CHERRELLE AT HER BEST. "AFFAIR" WAS GOOD,"THE WOMAN IN ME" WAS OK. AND NOW "THE RIGHT TIME" GOOD. MY FAVORITES ON THIS CD "SLEEPIN WITH THE ENEMY" ,NEXT TO YOU AND BABY COME TO ME W/ ALEXANDER O'NEAL.I HOPE CHERRELLE AND JIMMY JAM AND TERRY LEWIS WILL REJOINING AND MAKE ANOTHER GREAT ALBUM LIKE HIGH PRIORITY.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cherrelle....Back at last!, September 8, 2000

I have been a huge fan of Cherrelle since her "Fragile" and "High Priority" album in 1985. I thought "High Priority" was the bomb with its mix of slow and uptempo songs. I feel that her latest work is good but could have been much better. Her interludes don't deviate and sound the same which is not good. I have had her latest album for over a year now and finally feel like I should review it. I agree that she should get with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to do her next work because they always bring out the best in her music. Her voice and looks haven't changed which is a good thing. My favorite cut on this album is "Sleeping With The Enemy." I also feel that the remix of "Saturday Love" was horrendous. The reason that I say this is because it sounds like she used a different beat but the remix is no different from the original. In closing, I hope that Cherrelle will give her long time fans a treat and bring out an album that I know she is capable of. I just love her way of singing.

I've been a Cherrelle fan for years. I agree with the reviewer who rates "The Woman I Am" as her best work ever (Hello Record Label--Rerelease that CD!) But I believe this CD will create a whole new group of Cherrelle fans. Her vocals are like butter--play this CD during your next romantic dinner and watch your partner melt! Best tracks--Stop Loving You and Pillow Talk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cherrelle is back and is as hot as ever!, May 4, 1999

It's been a long time since we've heard from Cherrelle but it has been worth the wait. I've been a fan of hers from her very first hit and her latest record doesn't disappoint. Her slow jams are smooth, her fast jams are hot, and her remakes and remixes are fresh. Especially hot are the tracks "Just Tell Me", Sleeping With The Enemy", "Pillow Talk" and both duets with the great Alexander O'Neal. I'm glad you're back Cherrelle and please keep the fresh jams coming! This is a must buy for all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and long overdue!, April 8, 1999

This review is from: The Right Time (Audio CD)
Cherrelle could definitely give some of today's nouveau divas lessons! This CD is fresh from beginning to end! The mix of slow jams and uptempo numbers is outstanding. Her"covers" of "Next to You"(Rose Royce) and "Pillow Talk" (Sylvia) are special but it's the re-unions with the great Alexander O'Neal on "Baby Come to Me" and "Saturday Love" that are themselves worthy of the price of the entire CD. Buy this!

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be much better, September 11, 2002
This review is from: The Right Time (Audio CD)
I waited so long for a new album of Cherrelle and when she finally released this one in 1999 I ordered it emediately, becuase it was never published in Germany. Well, here is my review:

1) (Intro) - I thought "oh my god, if this should be a good intro, how will be the rest ??"
2) (Right Time) - Okay, this song is really good, not her best ever but very danceable, has a good beat and some nice lines to sing-a-long
3) (Stop loving you) - Stop playing it. Cheesy chorus, stupid arrangement, just forget it
4) (Just tell me) - This should be a single, I saw a video of it online but never found a cd single. This is a great R & B track. Cherrelle at her best, you can't just sit there and just listen, you have to move smoothly to the beat
5) (Don't) - Best title for this...: "Don't" - so why did she ?
6) (Sleeping with the enemy) - I like this song a lot ! Should be also released as single. Good groove, great vocals.
7) (Interlude) - Let's not talk about that !
8) (Next to you) - This is the worst song ever. Why did she record this track ? Her vocals are so bad, almost no beats, this songs really needs a mix-up. It's so baldy arranged you can't believe it. And the chorous is so terrible... no no no...
9) (Baby, come to me) Cherrelle and her best friend Alexander O'Neil are back together to record a great remake of a great song. I really love it. It such a happy song that you sing-a-long, gets you in a good mood and makes you move
10) (Never leave you lonely) - Okay, average song, won't disturb you at all, nice to listen to.
11) (Into my eyes) - well, Cherrelle, nice try but you won't catch mine with this song, but used to fill an album it's okay.
12) (Pillow talk) - Okay, the first time I listened to this song I really like it and wanted it as a single, but after several times I thought "In a way it's a big cheesy and just a nice song". It's just pop I guess, nothing real to be remembered but not really Cherrelle's style.
13) (Let it go) - Yes, let it go home
14) (Saturday Love) - What on earth got into the remixer to make such a mess out of this classic ? It's a kind of freestyle version that doesn't fit at all with this track. Who was responsible for putting it on this album ? This one should be fired.
15) (Outro) - well, we finally made it through this album.

Cherrelle, PLEASE get together again with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis or Narada Michael Walden. We miss your good days. You deserve so much better and we want you back. Don't let us wait so long again like you did between "Woman I am" and "The right time". But if so, choose carefully your working partners.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best R&B Singer!, February 20, 2011
This review is from: The Right Time (MP3 Download)
I bought Cherrelle's songs and have to say I was delighted to listen to them. Her songs are hearth touching and they create feelings of good fortune. I would like to also say that this woman is creative in numerous thoughts; and this is how it will be for the living daylights. Cherrelle and her artistic team have completed the great job of music production. Everytime I listen to her music, it feels like the song is always new. If the songs do not get old, then this means the artist is truly contemporary for all time frames; and this is exactly of how Cherrelle is. When people of the future listen to her songs, they will think it was recorded in their generation, all because of how the song was sang and how the instruments were implemented by the creative masters. I personally recommend you buy Cherrelle's songs for your entertainment needs. Buy her songs and create a nice aura of immortality. I now have to finish my words and go. A+ work and 7 out of 7 stars for the master. 7 16 100 500 777 1000
