Book Description

Kimani Romance May 19, 2009

Samara Scott doesn't believe in happily ever after. So when she finds a vintage wedding gown in a beautiful antique trunk, she vows never to put it on. Even if tantalizing visions of sexy attorney Justin Beckett in tux and tails are tempting her to rethink that trip down the aisle....

Justin not only believes in marriage--he knows Samara's the right woman for him. And with passion sizzling between them, he just has to get the wedding-wary documentarian to say "I do." But walking her to the altar is no piece of cake. Unless he can convince Samara to trust in their love enough to take that leap of faith.

1.0 out of 5 stars Am I reading the same book as the first two reviewers!?!, June 6, 2009
This review is from: The Right Wedding Gown (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
First let me be clear Samara and Justin did NOT previously have any flame or relationship.

Samara met Justin when she first arrived in the D.C. area and he asked to share a table with her while eating in a cafeteria. A few days later he asked on a date and his estranged wife (They still lived in the same house) showed up at the restaurant and showed out. He hadn't told her he was married so she left. After he was divorced he asked for date number 2 and his now ex-wife showed up and asked for his help with car trouble. He left Samara sitting at the table and went outside only to find she wasn't having trouble. His ex asked him to get into the car to talk and drove off with him inside. This is supposedly a man with a top level government job in an office that is so secret that no one knows exactly what it is that they do. Justin saw Samara at an antiques auction and went to her job to ask for yet another date. When he finally got her to go on date number 3, he didn't show up because of a family emergency. On date number 4 he did show up and promptly left her sitting in the Kennedy Theater when his cell phone rang. It was his job calling, he couldn't tell her why he was leaving and never said anything about her getting home safely. At this point I see the pattern even if Samara doesn't. I forced myself to read a little more just to see if she finally got a clue. She met with her four (professional) girlfriends and told them she was through with him. They told her not to be so hasty in dumping him because women outnumber men a hundred-to-one in D.C. At this point I'm thinking she not only need to find a different man, but needs to find a whole new set of friends that has self esteem. He showed up at her house several days after the Kennedy Theater incident in the middle of the night. She told the night guard at the front desk to let him up to her apartment while she then ran around trying to put clothes on. Samara asked him if he would like something to eat or drink? After she cooking him breakfast and watching him eat it, they started kissing and this led to her bedroom. I stopped reading at page 89 because the lead female character was stuck on stupid. That was a bc if I had ever seen one. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE EXCERPT!!!!! Borrow it from the library if you must read it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Well Written Story, October 19, 2009
This review is from: The Right Wedding Gown (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Love and marriage are destine to fail, so why bother? That is according to Samara Scott. So when she accompanies a friend to an antique auction and purchases a trunk, the contents were like a cruel joke: a beautiful antique wedding gown! That wasn't all she got at the auction. She also received the attention of Justin Beckett. She doesn't believe in Justin just as much as she doesn't believe in love and marriage. Justin knows that he has his work cut out for him if he is going to have any kind of relationship with Samara. For the past couple of years, nothing seems to go as planned when he is with Samara. He is determined to make her realize that nothing is guaranteed, but their relationship is worth taking a chance on.

The Right Wedding Gown is a well written story. It reads like a story that one of your girlfriends is telling you about how she met her husband. Hailstock does a great job with the plot. The story flows and keeps you engrossed from beginning to end. She also does a wonderful job with the development of the primary and secondary characters.

This is my first book by Shirley Hailstock, but it won't be the last. It was so good that I couldn't put it down until I finished. Be sure to pick another book in this series: Wrong Dress, Right Guy (Kimani Romance)
