The other reviewers are wrong!, February 6, 2003

I have to completely disagree with the other reviewers. Even though you may not have heard of Dag, this album exhibits some of the best, funkiest, downright nastiest infectius grooves. Check out 'Sweet Little Lass', 'Lovely Jane', 'You Can Lick It', and 'Candy' - Those 4 songs are all worth the price of this CD alone! Take it from me, I own about 2000 cds, and this is definitly a keeper if you like anything from James Brown to Groove Collective. By the way, this is the first time I read a review and just knew that the other reviewers were completely 100% wrong about this album. I'm not associated with Dag in any way, just a fellow musichead trying to tell you whats up and set the record straight about Dag Righteous.

This is one of the GREATEST FUNKIN' RECORDS, December 26, 2003

DAG -Dem are Grooves- Is the kind of band America should be full of. It doesn't matter that it's a group of white kids in a predominately black genre. They nail it. They kick it off with "Sweet Little Lass", which to me is one of the two weaker songs on the album. It has some good lines but for the most part it carries on at the end. The other song that is a little weak is "As". I understand the Sly and Family Stone feel they were shooting for, but Sly was a little to strange for anybody else to pull off successfully. The tracks that really pulled me in were: "Even So" -- This song is big and FULL of music. It makes you move and they added in crowd noise here and there. It is strange production but good. "Plow" just an all out funk attack Then there are the two "baby-makin" tunes, "Candy" and "You Can Lick it". Don't miss those. Look if you don't buy this album, you're a fool or you don't like funk and I think that puts you back in the fool catagory.

WOW, July 1, 2003
This review is from: Righteous (Audio CD)
I got this cd when it first came out and didn't pay much attention to it. For some reason I was compelled to break it out again two days ago. I discovered that it doesn't have a weak track on it. I think it might be the cd that makes me want to start listening to alot of funk music. Everyone in this band is very very tallented. The guitar work is astounding. Lots of jazz/blues chords (which are pretty tough) and nice solos. The bass player is awesome. I like it when the bass does something different than the guitar and DAG has mastered this skill. The drummer isn't all fast and throwing out amazing fills. Thats not what he's there for. He keeps nice rhythem and really keeps the song togeather. The singer is fabulous. He can hit high notes like no one else in the world. They are from my home state or North Carolina, and that makes them extra cool. Check this out. Anyone who likes music will love this cd. My friends that like blues, love DAG. My friends that like 80's rock, love DAG. My friends that.....u get the point.
