#1 Romantic Suspense
Amazon Top 100 Author
Amazon Hot New Release Bestseller

"This romantic suspense worked so well for me... The author sets up many characters that could be the serial killer, keeping you guessing the whole time.  A great heroine -- smart and funny. She brings in a lighter tone to an otherwise darker book. She made me laugh and smile throughout the entire story... sexual tension is off the charts and done so well... And even better, Hero has a lot of overprotective, alpha brothers who I think will all get books. Definitely looking forward to more in this series."  ~USA Today Review

More About the Author

Kerrigan has done many things to pay the bills, from law enforcement to belly dance instructor. Now she's finally able to have the career she'd decided upon at thirteen when she announced to her very skeptical family that she was going to "grow up to be a romance novelist." Whether she's writing about Celtic Druids, Victorian bad boys, or brash Irish FBI Agents, Kerrigan uses her borderline-obsessive passion for history, her extensive Celtic ancestry, and her love of Shakespeare in almost every story.

She lives at the base of the Rocky Mountains with her handsome husband and three lovely teenage girls, but dreams of settling on the Pacific Coast.

Let me start out by saying this book was different from any other romantic suspense book I've read. And that's a good thing. Hero, the main character and young lady who escaped certain death at the hands of a serial killer, was not written as the typical lost soul, scared of her own shadow, needing a man for her recovery, heroine you usually read in these type of stories. Luca, one of the FBI agents assigned to protect her, was not perfect. Sure he was easy on the eyes, but he had his own psychological and emotional stew simmering beneath the surface. And he focused way too much on the quality of his shoes. I liked that! I mean come on! A man who's into expensive perfect fitting shoes, who's an attractive, and dangerous Latin lover to boot!? I call PERFECTION!! But seriously, this was a very well written book, with a story that grabbed you and wouldn't let you go until the disturbing end. The humorous banter intertwined within the characters had me LOL more than once and highlighting so many passages on my Kindle it now looks dangerously close to one of my graded reports returned to me from back in my high school days! The secondary characters had as much charisma as the main ones and I hope the author continues this into a full series with a separate book for each of Hero's brothers. For now I'm happy to know at least there's another book in the works and I'll get to see more of Vince, Luca's FBI partner.

Well played, Ms. Byrne. Well played.

I've been a fan of Kerrigan Byrne since I first read Unspoken. I was hesitant about reading a romantic suspense because her Highlander Historicals were so amazing. But let me tell you... I wasn't disappointed. A Righteous Kill had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. But what surprised me the most is how often I laughed as well. The hilarious banter between the hero and heroine had me gasping for breath almost as often as the steamy parts did. And let me just say... Oh. Wow. Seriously, this is one book that should NOT be missed!

As someone who is continually fascinated by the history and development of Catholicism, this book was a tasty meal for my mind to devour. I started reading on Saturday afternoon, read all the way through and finished it Monday morning. The author's use of language, and witty banter between the characters made it a wonderfully easy read. Of all the female main characters I have read, Hero is one of my favorites. Her attitude, and her outlook of the world made it easy to relate to her, and her spunky wit in contrast to the uber severe FBI agent found in Luca made their relationship pop off the page.

I cannot praise this book enough. If you like action, with many twists and turns; this is an ideal example. It is like a roller coaster for the mind. The author takes you into so many different scenarios of how it COULD end, that by the time you reach the ending, there is still the shock and surprise that makes it enjoyable. Not predictable at all.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys suspense, with a romantic overtone. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

I'm wishing I had more than five stars to give this read. I've been an avid fan of Byrne's since I stumbled upon her Highland Historical novellas, and have devoured every word she writes. When I heard she'd be releasing a contemporary thriller, I couldn't wait to see what she'd do with it. All I can say is...WOW. This book has all the poetic prose I've come to love from Byrne, and doesn't sacrifice one whit of the heat she brings to all her heroes and heroines. I fell in love with Luca and Hero from the start. An un-put-downable page turner from beginning to end!

Whether Kerrigan Byrne is writing a highland historical romance or a contemporary romantic suspense, she knows how to create an entertaining tale. In A Righteous Kill, she's masterfully woven chilling scenes, sexy characters and funny moments into a very compelling story. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves a thrilling ride.

I am new to this author and I wonder how I could have missed her previous books. This is a funny, scary mystery packed full of funky characters and hot guys. The sexual tension between Hero & Luca is enough to drive the reader crazy, the suspense level is off the charts, and the humorous exchanges between the characters will have you laughing out loud. I was hooked from the very beginning of this book. This is an awesome romantic mystery with many twists & turns. The epilogue is actually the perfect set up for the next book in this new series. I highly recommend this book; and I will be reading more of this author's work.

Review:

A serial killer is still out there with a media-given nickname due to the nature of his killings. One woman who was meant to die survives and is rescued. Two FBI agents are assigned to protect her. There is an attraction and chemistry between one of the agents and the woman. In the meantime, there are more deaths, more clues and a frantic race against time before she becomes a victim again.

If this sounds familiar, it should be to avid readers of mysteries. Many of these elements are in many of these types of stories. However, Kerrigan Byrne manages to take all of these elements, add a few other characteristics to the story and the characters, and produce a novel that is a superb work of mystery, murder, romance, sex and even humor.

Dubbed “John the Baptist”, a killer has wreaked havoc by killing several women, most of whom were prostitutes and all of whom are redheads, and leaving cryptic clues. One woman, Hero Katrova-Connor, who was not a prostitute but instead an artist, was meant to be a victim but survived. When two FBI agents, Luca Ramirez and Vince, are assigned to protect her as well as continue the investigation, the story gets better.

The reader will learn about Hero’s family with many idiosyncrasies. Hero herself has them as well and the names of most of the family members have a Shakespeare quality. This trait is not unexpected from this author, as Ms. Byrne has become a best-selling author with here Highlander romance books. She takes some of the traits from those stories and applies them here in her first mystery novel. These add to the story for not only introducing wonderful characters, such as Hero’s brother who is also an agent. The character development that I enjoy in Ms. Byrne’s books is at its best here.
