Cocoa Tea's album, Rikers Island is grounded in the traditional forms of "classic reggae" which can be attributed to the likes of Lee "Scratch" Perry, early Peter Tosh and Bob Marley. He is able is infuse carrabean sounds with popular undertones that makes his appeal to both purist and dancehall listners almost hypnotic. In this album, Cocoa Tea's popular appeal is much like what Eddie Grant received with his "Electric Avenue" hit in the early eighties.

This is album is truly a classic for all reggae enthusiasts. With hits like "Fool in Love" and "Riker's Island" this album is a must buy!

Out of all the Reggae artists out there "Cocoa Tea" hs to be one of the very best and out of his many amazing albums this is one of his best. Mostly due to the song "Rikers island", there just is nothing more catchy out there yet it has alot of substance.

Cocoa has always been one to do songs that deals whit pretty much the same subjects as those of many gangstarapers as they deals whit life in the ghetto, violence and serving time. What differs tremendously though is his approach as Cocoa Tea is nothing but 100% positive and conscious.

Still, Cocoa has never been the one to shy away from love songs either which makes this album and him as an artist very versatile. As you can hear i'm a major fan of his music and I do recommend this album from the bottom of my heart, go and get it.
