Editor!!! Editor!!!, October 31, 2011
Terrible editing of the format and conversion process. I have trouble believing that anyone would really offer this format-nightmare for any price, much less 10 bucks. In fact, "much less than $10 bucks" should have been the title. I'm sure the author is glad he's dead. The te xt ap pear s to h ave BEE N runthrou gh a ver y poor OC R engine (painful to replicate), and then no one bothered to read the output. I'm becomming a devote of the cheap....less expensive Kindle offerings, and my anticipated value point for this book was hovering somewhere south of $2 at the end of the sample (DEFINITELY GET A FREE SAMPLE BEFORE BUYING THIS!!!), and was shocked (shocked I say) at the $9.99. No way. The "normal" text is interspersed with whole-page images (whose font size cannot change). The "normal text" changes size randomly. As noted above the word spacing is all screwed u p. In short, there may be a good story in this mess, but you get so tired of reading everything at least twice to decipher it, laziness takes you to another offering. Sorry, Mr. Chandler's estate, you need to do your homework with Amazon Central on how it's done.

The work of one of the giants of the science fiction genre, August 11, 2010
Arthur Bertram Chandler (1912-84) was an English-born, Australian science fiction author, and among the many stories he wrote were a group of stories written about the worlds of the galactic rim, of which this is the first. This is the story of Derek Calver, who like so many before him, has moved to the rim of the Milky Way Galaxy, to start afresh. Joining the Rim Runners, he quickly learns that life on the frontier is quite different than life in the center of Earth's civilization. But, he also learns that there is adventure aplenty on the rim, with many chances to get ahead...and get killed! This is an excellent book. The author is well known for his realistic presentation of shipboard life, and it is easy to see why in this book. But, not only is this book filled with realism, it's also filled with excitement and adventure. Moving from day to day, and planet to planet, our hero encounters government spies, strange aliens and even stranger humans, bizarre temporal effects, and even love. Yeah, I really did enjoy this book. It is the work of one of the giants of the science fiction genre, and it is definitely well worth your time to read!

Formatting? What formatting . . ., January 2, 2012
Um! I read this book ages ago, must have been one of the first SF books I ever read, a top, quick read. But whoever transformed it to digital, is a complete ******** . This good little story is almost unreadable on my kindle which is a pity. If you are the ******* who did the formatting, stop it, don't ever think of doing this to a book again! *******. I sugest you get a sample first, before buying.
