About the Author
Graham Robb was born in Manchester in 1958. He has published widely in nineteenth-century French literature: his highly acclaimed adaptation of Claude Pichois and Jean Ziegler's biography of Baudelaire appeared in 1989, his biography of Balzac was published in 1994, and his Victor Hugo - winner of the Royal Society of Literature Heinemann Award and the Whitbread Biography Award - in 1997. He lives in Oxford.

Graham Robb has presented a biography of Ribauld that one intuitively recognizes as accurate and defining. The sense of the man is clearly conveyed in writing that often matches the work of Ribauld himself.
Even though I will most likely never be able to fully appreciate Rimbauld's work myself, I enjoyed this biography as if I were a Rimbauld scholar. Somehow, the sense of Ribauld's brilliant and horrifying life is inescapably presented and I became absolutely absorbed in the story unfolding before me. I highly recommend this book to anybody thinking of reading it - you won't be dissapointed.
