Arrr, there be rimes in this CD,

When I first heard this in my friend's car, I was taken off guard. At first I cringed at someone making a mashup of pirate-themed hip-hop song about the Deadmines from World of Warcraft, but the longer I listened to it, the more it grew on me. You can probably blame this on my knowledge that ninjas are superior to pirates(Deadmines as an example: the entire cavern is filled with pirates and rebels, and they're led by Van Cleef, a ninja), but I'm not going to rag on my seaborne mateys. Captain Dan more than manages to make a good hip-hop CD while still spearheading his own unique scurvy recipe of it. The 'rimes' are catchy, swift and in some places really sharp(Broadside for example) If you don't like this at first, give it a couple listens, it will grow on you. Of course if you hate nerdcore, there's no hope, sorry. But this is still a solid catch outta the sea, mates.

I discovered Captain Dan and the Scurvy crew on Pandorda based upon an MC Frontalot reference. The only similarity between the two is rap/hip-hop with interesting topics. I like all the Captain Dan CDs, this and From the Seas to the Streets are the better of the three. I highly recommend them both since they have some comical value while still being quality music. The lyrics / verses are clever and all pertain to a pirate theme. The back and forth rap battles on the CDs are my favorites. Definitely worth listening to.
