Book Description

Jordan Lacey Mysteries July 1, 2005
Jordan Lacy, Latching's zany private eye, is thrown in the deep end ? literally ? when fishing rods start disappearing from the pier. Next, stolen pedigree puppies start adding to her case load. But it all gets more serious when one of the anglers is found hanging in the bell tower of a church, his past life shrouded in mystery. Then a cache of diamonds go missing from a raided security box and a revengeful gang member is determined to find out where they are hidden. The personal stakes are upped as a series of planned road crashes shakes Jordan's sense of security. And when the love of her life, DI James, announces his transfer to Yorkshire, she knows she will have to claw her way back to sanity.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Feisty PI Jordan Lacey is back in another entertaining adventure that offers a charming glimpse of British village life plus action, humor, mystery, and romance. Jordan has two hot cases vying for her attention. The first involves three disappearing Chihuahuas, and while finding the lost doggies might seem small-time, it could mean cash in Jordan's pocket, as the dogs are valuable purebreds. Her second case concerns missing fishing rods. The town fishermen are concerned that their rods are being snatched off the pier, virtually in front of their eyes. Of course, there's more: a deadly fire on the pier, the theft of a valuable antique gown, a "fake" car crash scam, and a vicious dog-napper. Her tendency to get involved--uninvited--in matters best left to the police earns her the wrath of her unrequited love, DI James, but he can't deny that she has an excellent track record for solving the seemingly unsolvable. The shock ending will leave readers anxious for the next installment in this likable series. Emily Melton

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced reading, May 14, 2006

This review is from: Ring and Die (Jordan Lacey Mysteries) (Hardcover)
Jordan is a private eye in Latching on the coast of England. This sixth book in the Jordan Lacey series starts with Jordan being hired to find stolen Chihuahua puppies and stolen fishing rods. Things escalate rapidly to a dead fisherman, Jordan almost drowning under the pier, being involved in a car accident which is an insurance scam and being kidnapped and left locked in a basement that sometimes floods. In her spare time, she runs a little shop, First Class Junk.

Like the other reviewers, I, too, am a little concerned with the ending, but will wait and see what the seventh book brings.

You'll like Jordan and her friends. Recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars What is going on?, November 17, 2005

After reading Ring and Die I am simply puzzled. I really can't figure out what direction the author is taking. DI James is as much a part of the series as Jordan is. I don't care how the author does it, but bring DI James back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars just finished reading this book..., September 26, 2005
This review is from: Ring and Die (Jordan Lacey Mysteries) (Hardcover)
I bought Stella Whitelaw's latest book together with Nora Roberts' latest bestseller and a new up and coming author, Lori Davis. I was least impressed with Roberts' attempt at literature, but was extremely pleased with the other two. Especially Whitelaw's book. I couldn't put it down. The ending is to die for (readers of this book will get the pun). I can't wait for the next installment!
